➡️ Accused by the United States of human rights abuses and involvement in drug trafficking.

➡️ Captured by U.S. military forces tonight and transferred out of the country in the early hours of Saturday, January 3.

🇺🇸⛓🇻🇪🇻🇪 — Senator Mike Lee stated that Rubio informed him that Nicolás Maduro was arrested by U.S. personnel to face criminal charges in the United States, and that the observed military action was to protect those who carried out the arrest. He added that no further U.S. actions in Venezuela are expected.

He informed me that Nicolás Maduro has been arrested by U.S. personnel to stand trial on criminal charges in the United States, and that the kinetic action we saw tonight was deployed to protect and defend those executing the arrest warrant

This action likely falls within the president’s inherent authority under Article II of the Constitution to protect U.S. personnel from an actual or imminent attack
