🇧🇷🇧🇷⚖️⛓🇧🇷 — ⚠️ URGENT: Brazil’s Prosecutor General, Paulo Gonet, has submitted his final arguments to the Supreme Federal Court (STF), including a request for the conviction of former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL), who is accused of leading an attempted coup d'état following the 2022 elections

📝 The 517-page opinion is part of the final phase of the criminal case against members of the so-called “core group 1” and precedes the merit judgment by the Court’s First Panel, presided over by Justice Alexandre de Moraes.

⚖️ Bolsonaro faces five charges: attempted coup d'état, violent abolition of the democratic rule of law, participation in a criminal organization, aggravated damage to public property, and deterioration of protected heritage. Combined, the penalties could exceed 40 years in prison.

➡️ In addition to Bolsonaro, seven other defendants have been formally charged: former minister Walter Braga Netto; Lieutenant Colonel Mauro Cid; federal congressman Alexandre Ramagem (PL-RJ); former Navy commander Almir Garnier; former Justice Minister Anderson Torres; former Institutional Security Office (GSI) minister Augusto Heleno; and former Defense Minister Paulo Sérgio Nogueira.
