🇺🇸💥🇧🇷 — U.S. Trade Representative (USTR) Jamieson Greer reaffirmed today, alongside Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, that the 50% tariff on Brazil has a political nature, due to the persecution of the right in the country and of former President Jair Bolsonaro

➡️ During the speech, Bessent interrupted Greer to add the “illegal detention of an American citizen in Brazil,” referring to the episode involving Jason Miller.

“Forty percent of it is due to human rights violations in the country, restrictions on freedom of expression, persecution of opponents, and actions against American social media companies.”
