📰🔽🇧🇷🤡— One of the world’s most renowned publications, The Economist, highlights a challenging phase for Brazil and its president, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva. In a report titled "Faded Dreams", the magazine describes the country's loss of international influence and Lula’s growing unpopularity at home. The analysis suggests that while the president once projected Brazil onto the global stage, he has failed to adapt to a constantly changing world.

➡️ According to The Economist, Brazil’s foreign policy under Lula’s current administration has been marked by growing incoherence. The country has notably aligned itself with nations such as China and Iran, while distancing itself from the West and the United States.

➡️ Experts point out that as China and Russia increasingly use BRICS to legitimize their foreign policies—and in Russia's case, its war in Ukraine—it becomes harder for Brazil to maintain a non-aligned stance. Seven of the eleven BRICS members are currently ruled by authoritarian regimes.

📰🔽🇧🇷🤡— One of the world’s most renowned publications, The Economist, highlights a challenging phase for Brazil and its president, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva. In a report titled "Faded Dreams", the magazine describes the country's loss of international influence…
🇧🇷🤡❗️🇬🇧📰— The Brazilian government is preparing an official letter to the British magazine The Economist following the publication of a report stating that President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) is losing both international influence and domestic popularity. The letter, signed by Foreign Minister Mauro Vieira, will be delivered to the magazine by the Brazilian embassy in London

📝 The Economist article claims that, under Lula, Brazil is distancing itself from Western democracies and the United States. It also criticizes the Brazilian president for not making efforts to foster ties with U.S. President Donald Trump.

🇧🇷 Minister Mauro Vieira is expected to use the letter to defend Brazil's stance on the recent attacks against Iran, emphasizing opposition to "violations of sovereignty" and a commitment to international law—both points highlighted in Brazil's earlier statements regarding the U.S. military operation.

🤫 In its reply, Brazil is likely to avoid addressing criticisms about Lula’s distancing from Trump or Argentine President Javier Milei. It will also likely refrain from responding to remarks about Lula’s declining domestic approval.

💥 Experts warn that sending such an official letter in response to a respected British publication may be perceived as a form of pressure or intimidation. British diplomats are reportedly prepared to respond firmly if necessary.
