🇧🇷⚖️💥⚖️ — Amid an unprecedented crisis, Supreme Federal Court (STF) Justice Flávio Dino ordered the reinstatement of Federal Police Director-General Andrei Passos Rodrigues and Intelligence Director Leandro Almada, who had been removed from their positions the previous day by Justice André Mendonça.

➡️ Dino also ordered that his decision be submitted “exclusively” to the Court's Plenary. The measure contrasts with the one taken the previous day by Mendonça, who submitted his order only to the Court's Second Panel, which formed a majority to uphold the removal.

➡️ In the same decision, Flávio Dino also cited “functional or personal disagreements” between Mendonça and the Federal Police, and accused him of having met with imprisoned former banker Daniel Vorcaro, owner of the liquidated Banco Master, which is the target of a broad and in-depth investigation by the agency.

❗️ Dino issued a warning threatening that any further measure contrary to his decision could constitute an “unlawful act subject to the consequences provided for under the legal system.”

“The Democratic Rule of Law is not a system in which one, some, or even the majority may impose their appetites or wishes according to their own timing. Police Intelligence is an essential activity of the Unified Public Security System and therefore cannot be suspended at the discretion of a single judge, under penalty of frustrating the legitimate activity of dozens of other members of the Judiciary. If Justice André Mendonça, a party to the proceeding initiated by the President, considers that a subjective right is at risk, he must address the President or the Plenary, under penalty of seriously usurping the powers of the other Justices.”
