Ethereum Hard-Forks to Reverse The DAO Hack

We're posting a thread on an Ethereum story today because of what it settled: how far they went to undo a theft and why Bitcoin has never gone there. Brief thread... 🧵👇

2/9 - Bitcoin has never reversed a transaction, not for Mt. Gox, not for any hack since, no matter the size of the loss. That rule sounds simple until you watch another major blockchain break it in public, on purpose. This is that story.

7/9 - Not everyone went along. A minority of miners and users rejected the fork on "code is law" grounds and kept validating the original, unaltered chain. That holdout became Ethereum Classic. The forked chain became the Ethereum most people mean today.

8/9 - Bitcoin has weathered its own catastrophic exchange losses, Mt. Gox chief among them, and never once forked to reverse a theft. A month after the DAO fork, Ethereum Classic was still running, cited in Bitcoin circles as proof the no-fork stance held…

Primeira falha confessada: tokenizar não cria liquidez. O relatório admite que versões tokenizadas costumam ser menos líquidas que o ativo original no sistema legado, e o imóvel tokenizado foi o teste definitivo.

O ativo negocia pouco, a avaliação é periódica…

Segunda falha, a mais grave, grifada aí embaixo: a maioria dos ativos tokenizados depende de um registro paralelo fora da blockchain, que continua sendo o registro legal da propriedade.
