Building anything useful has always created more demand for the stuff used to build the useful thing. There is not one instance in history where this wasn't true.
Of course, it will also repackage some existing demand, but that only means digital credit was more useful to those people than Bitcoin was.
Different people's needs often differ.
Digital credit extends Bitcoin so it meets more types of needs.
