A two-month-old boy who was born prematurely after his mother suffered a fatal blood clot died in his sleep just months later, an inquest has heard.

Dexter Khan-Barnes was born at 32 weeks after being delivered by emergency caesarean section when his mother, Laura Barnes, developed the clot.

He remained in hospital on the neo-natal unit and was eventually discharged six weeks later into the care of his father, Shane Khan.

An inquest at Blackburn Old Town Hall heard the baby boy had been seen by a nurse at his father's house in Rishton, near Accrington, Lancashire, on July 29 and no concerns had been raised.

But in the early hours of the next morning Mr Khan found his son unresponsive and he was tragically pronounced dead hours later, with a post-mortem failing to determine a cause of death.
