After spending several days in a home that has the television on all damn day, I am reminded terribly clearly that shows geared towards adults: soap operas, the news, network shows etc — are the equivalent of the cartoons we used to watch as kids on Saturday mornings.
In our house, we were only allowed to just sit in front of the tv on Saturday mornings and my brother and I would stare at it for as much time as we could get.
Mindless and numbing, those shows entertained (captured) us as kids. But as a person ages, if they don’t decide not to, they simply trade those inane cartoons for even more inane programming. The News lulls them into thinking they’re informed and all the rest is just as bad. Throw in the advertising and you are simply being hypnotized.
I know we all know this and none of what I’m saying here is new. But after this recent reminder of just how bad it is, I’m even more aware that it’s still happening.

Sorry for the downer post 🫤
I can’t pretend this shit doesn’t affect me bc it does.
When you’re in a room with poison, just knowing that it’s poison doesn’t protect you. You have to leave.

The argument persists "universal healthcare" or...not, "because someone has to pay for it".
Both arguments are rooted in truth at their core and are built on a foundation of validity - whether or not they are in agreement.
But both keep us distracted from coming together and curating VERY real solutions that could be implemented immediately and could eradicate what we are really talking about here..... A corrupt medical system that fundamentally exploits imperfect human health.
A medical system that says "sign here" BEFORE it hands you the bill.
A medical system where the companies who insure the patient, educate and own the doctor.
A medical system where the companies and people who fund the medicine, are also the ones who profit from the illnesses listed as side effects.
A medical system which these same companies work in lock step with our nation's regulatory bodies, often hiring the very federal agents who regulate them after they approve their next medication.
A medical system that should serve its nation, instead designed from the ground up to profit off of it.
What immediate changes would we all benefit from?
🔵Price transparency prior to procedure.
🔵Routine procedural caps (ie...industry wide limits on the Max a provider may charge for something such as.....an X ray or a circumcision REGARDLESS of insured status)
🔵Ban or limit unethical insurer practices and push for strong, heavy enforcement when violations occur.
- No kickbacks to providers.
🔵Require gold standard trials for all new drugs
-Also require independent funding.
🔵Incentivize the research of natural supplements and naturally occuring materials that may prove to have medicinal properties.
🔵Open the door for holistic and naturopathic practitioners to be treated equally by insurance providers.
🔵Criminalize pharmaceutical negligence and open the door to personal liability for those executives who's companies engage in negligent practices which result in injury.
What else could we do to make healthcare more affordable and accessible today?

SPECIAL INVESTIGATION: Top Attorney Claims “Epidemic of Sexual Abuse” in California Public Schools by Teachers, Coaches, or School Employees And Reveals That New Data Estimates 17% of Students Nationwide Will Face Sexual Misconduct During Their Public Education
This week on Straight to the Point I sat down with a leading Attorney John Manly, who represented victims of USA Olympic Gymnastics team doctor Larry Nassar.
Manly alleges that powerful teachers unions and failures in mandatory reporting requirements are enabling widespread sexual abuse by “passing the trash,” a practice in which he says problematic teachers are quietly reassigned after allegations rather than being fired and prosecuted.
