Before the Captivity of Israel, the tribe of Dan colonized parts of Greece, Turkey, Sardinia and even Ireland.
This is only the known travels of Dan before the captivity as they could have gone much farther like the Phoenicians who made it all the way to Australia of all places.
... and why did Dan remain in ships? Asher continued on the sea shore, and abode in his breaches.

Some say the mark only exists on the other side of the flood, but that is not the case. In reality, it was passed on through Naamah to Ham and Canaan.
Did their descendants also receive the mark or was it washed out?
Was the mark manipulated in any way by Canaan?
These questions may not be answered speedily, in fact we may never know all the answers until we reach heaven.
