1997 was when mass immigration to Ireland started to really kick off and Irish culture was vandalised post 1980s with mass adoption of TV (as discussed above in the book quoted in this channel 'The Broken Harp')
Also note, most of the population growth particularly after 2010 is from immigration as Ireland birth rate has massively declined in the 2010s period now at a record low of 1.5 - the sub-replacement level is 2.1

In brief:
