Traffickers are using in-built GPS technology, social media sites, and parenting apps like Life360 - an app which allows parents to monitor their children's whereabouts - to keep their victims under control, case reports reveal.

At least 9 federal cases of sex trafficking in the US involve Life360 software, writes Forbes, with fears the number could be higher when similar apps and tools like Apple's "Find My Friends" and Google's "Find My Phone" are included.

"There is no obstacle to enterprising criminals using that technology for illicit means,” former DOJ attorney Justin Herman said.
