Marianne Bachmeier (3 June 1950 – 17 September 1996) was the West German mother who shot and killed Klaus Grabowski, the 35-year-old man on trial for the rape and murder of her seven-year-old daughter, Anna, in 1981.
On March 6, 1981, during the third day of the trial, Bachmeier pulled a smuggled .22-caliber Beretta pistol from her handbag and fired seven shots at Grabowski, with six hitting him.
"I did it for you, Anna.” Upon killing him instantly, she reportedly made this statement, signaling her motivation was pure vengeance for her child. Her act of vigilantism became a national sensation, sparking intense debate over justice, grief, and vengeance.
