Federal health authorities scorn ivermectin for COVID, despite findings of benefits, safety

In a study published by the American Journal of Therapeutics, researchers argued Ivermectin has an "established safety profile through decades of use" and "could play a critical role in suppressing or even ending the SARS-CoV2 pandemic."

They evaluated the results of Ivermectin tested in 24 randomized controlled clinical trials involving 3,406 participants, assessing its efficacy in reducing mortality and secondary outcomes in people with, or at high risk of COVID-19.

They found that Ivermectin's antiviral and anti-inflammatory properties were beneficial and that it reduced risk of death compared with no ivermectin in COVID-19 patients by an average of 62% (risk ratio .38%).

They also found that ivermectin prophylaxis reduced COVID-19 infection by an average 86% (95% confidence interval 79%–91%).

"Moderate-certainty evidence finds that large reductions in COVID-19 deaths are possible using ivermectin," they concluded.

"Using ivermectin early in the clinical course may reduce numbers progressing to severe disease. The apparent safety and low cost suggest that ivermectin is likely to have a significant impact on the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic globally."

Of 63 controlled studies, the data shows a 69% improvement among patients for early treatment.

The 63 trials involved 613 scientists and 26,398 patients in 31 randomized controlled trials.

Summaries of other studies include 86% improvement in 14 prophylaxis trials, 69% improvement in 27 early treatment trials, 40% improvement in 22 late treatment trials, and 60% improvement in 31 randomized controlled trials.

Despite this, the NIH maintains that "no clinical trials have reported a clinical benefit for ivermectin in patients with these viruses."

House Democrats on Tuesday removed roughly $1 billion in funding for Israel’s Iron Dome defense system in a spending bill to keep the U.S. government fully funded through Dec. 3.

Leaders of the Democrat-controlled chamber reportedly removed the money from the so-called "continuing resolution" to get enough voters from progressives in their conference to pass the measure, according to the Jerusalem Post.

A North Carolina-based health care provider announced Tuesday it has suspended hundreds of employees for not meeting the company's Covid-19 vaccine requirements.

Novant Health says employees, by now, must have received at least one dose of a Covid-19 vaccine or applied for -- and received -- a medical or religious exemption.

Those that hadn't -- about 375 workers across 15 hospitals and hundreds of clinics and outpatient facilities -- are now suspended.

House GOP Probes FAA Drone Ban Over Texas Bridge

House Republicans on Tuesday accused the Federal Aviation Administration of cowing to the Biden administration after it banned flights and drones from flying over a bridge in Texas where thousands of immigrants have huddled in squalid conditions as they wait to turn themselves in to the U.S. Border Patrol and seek asylum.

Kentucky Rep. James Comer and other GOP members of the House Oversight Committee in a letter to the FAA said the ban was "totally devoid" of justification.

“Using government resources to conduct such blatant censorship is exactly the kind of abuse of power that must be rooted out of our government — to say nothing to the basic lack of transparency,” they wrote in the memo, according to the Washington Times.
