President Trump is calling on Congress to pass legislation imposing mandatory prison sentences with no probation for people convicted of stealing from Medicaid, Medicare or Social Security, with sentences doubled after a second conviction. His proposal would also make state and local officials personally liable for taxpayer losses if they knowingly failed to stop fraud they could have prevented. “If you steal from the American people, you will go to prison and for a long period of time,” Trump said.

TRUMP ANNOUNCES $90 MEDICARE PAYMENTS FOR MORE THAN 20 MILLION SENIORS

President Trump says more than 20 million Medicare beneficiaries will receive a $90 payment from the Medicare Improvement Fund to help offset October premiums. The White House says the payments will go out within days and that the fund, which contains billions of dollars, has never previously been used by an administration. Trump also says his administration’s efforts to combat Medicare fraud have reduced premiums by $132 a year.
