Crews from the Asheville NC Fire Department (AFD) are now heading to Kentucky to assist with emergency response after the state was hit with severe flooding.

AFD's 10-member swift water team is bringing swift-water rescue equipment used during Hurricane Helene.

Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear confirmed that at least eight people, including a child, have been killed as a result of the powerful storm system that led to widespread flooding over the weekend.
