From today haulage firms (or holidayers) face a £10k fine per stowaway found, inadvertent or not. Yet the firms employing the illegals here routinely ignore fines, or change family ownership and continue. No figures exist (all attempts have been rebuffed) for the percentage of fines recovered by the government.
