As the ploughboys get back to work after Christmastide, the plough is blessed for its work in the season ahead and paraded through the village. In some places Molly dancers and Broom dancers join in the merriment. Varied rituals mark the day across the country - often kept alive by enthusiasts who refuse to let the spirit of Old England die.
