During the Younger Dryas period which ended 11,600 years ago, it is estimated from the annually-banded Greenland ice-core that the annual-mean temperature increased by as much as 10Β°C in 10 years.
This was entirely due to natural phenomena. By contrast according to an βongoing temperature analysis led by scientists at NASAβs Goddard Institute for Space Studies (GISS), the average global temperature on Earth has increased by at least 1.1Β° Celsius (1.9Β° Fahrenheit) since 1880. The majority of the warming has occurred since 1975, at a rate of roughly 0.15 to 0.20Β°C per decade (Although this can be easily disputed).β This recent warming we are led to believe is due to human emissions of green house gasses.
The concern and anxiety appears to be overwhelmingly disproportionate towards anthropogenic warming when natural climatic shifts have been magnitudes greater in much shorter time spans.
