Tensions are growing in Gronant, a North Wales village of around 1,600 people, after residents discovered that 13 of 15 newly developed homes at the former Gronant Institute have been earmarked for illegal migrants.

Locals say they had expected the properties to be sold, rented or potentially used as social housing and were not warned before asylum seekers began arriving.

Graffiti protesting the asylum accommodation has now been sprayed across the former Gronant Institute, the old community building at the center of the new housing development.
