Police and firefighters responded to an incident at Goffs Park after three individuals who had been drinking alcohol lit a fire on the field.

What should have been a straightforward request to put out the fire and move from the area instead developed into a lengthy and heated confrontation.

The individuals repeatedly argued with officers, challenged their instructions and behaved in a rude, disrespectful and confrontational manner. During the exchange, they repeatedly referred to being Afghan nationals and refugees while arguing about their rights.

Despite officers attempting to deal with the situation calmly, the argument continued, with the individuals refusing to comply with the officers’ requests and repeatedly disputing their instructions.

Their confrontational behaviour then turned towards the person filming the incident. Members of the group approached the cameraman, argued with him and squared up to him as he recorded what was happening...
