Asylum seekers coming to Weymouth private rented accommodation soon?

Former South Dorset MP, Ian Bruce, is a private landlord in Weymouth. He has been contacted by a company purporting to be contracted to central government to find private accommodation within our community to home asylum seekers.

Rather than use large scale managed accommodation, eg in MOD properties, asylum seekers will be distributed in residential areas across the country, including here...

We received a number of messages yesterday regarding a man from the camp who was in Crowborough town during the afternoon.

He reportedly tried to strike up conversations with two women and asked one of them for her WhatsApp number. She told him she was married, but he continued to pursue the conversation until she walked away.

As his behaviour became more concerning, with reports that he was watching women, a member of the public went to the police station to report the incident as it was happening with the location.

Later, the same man followed a woman through the town and down the narrow cut-through between Pilmer Road and Goldsmiths park at a brisk pace. His behaviour caused enough concern that a dog walker intervened by engaging him in conversation, giving the woman time to create some distance. During the conversation, the man said he was from Afghanistan and had been at the camp for two months.

Despite the report being made, the police did not attend...
