Invasive species have set up breeding populations in Cornwall and elsewhere where they predate on other species and practice sexual cannibalism.

A cordon is in place following a reported stabbing(s) outside a synagogue in north Manchester.

Police are in attendance on Middleton Road, in Crumpsall, this morning (October 2).

Middleton Road is closed between Wilton Road and Crumpsall Lane.

GMP has confirmed the incident happened outside Heaton Park synagogue, on Middleton Road.

The suspect did not gain access to the building. He has been shot at the scene by armed police.

His condition is not known, but he is believed to be alive. It's not clear how many people have been injured in this incident.

Paramedics have also been seen in the area.

Mayor Andy Burnham has spoken about the incident on BBC Radio Manchester.

He says a 'serious incident' took place and the immediate danger is over. He says police dealt with the matter quickly and he has asked people to avoid the area.

We're awaiting a full statement from GMP on the incident.
