Most incredibly they suggest this will diminish the numbers who wish to come.

Sounds like the coroner is creating a situation where his Sudanese family can sue for damages. We have already let his family in for the inquest, whence they are unlikely to leave. And given them the excuse to remain and the opportunity to seek legal/financial redress.

Supporting the Refugee Convention or principle of asylum is a death wish for Western societies. Take one aspect: homosexuality. There are around 69 countries than ban it. Their populations add up to 1,728,062,958. If, say, 5% are possibly homosexual, that's 86,403,147 who could legitimately claim asylum. Just one factor among countless others, including asylum fraud.
