A tradition in our family is driving around, drinking hot cocoa and looking at beautifully lit Christmas lights. Does anyone else do this?
Instead of paying $25 per vehicle and being in tons of traffic looking at lights at the Fairgrounds, we drive around nice public neighborhoods that have professionally done Christmas lights. It's free and just as beautiful. The kids loved it!

Student enrollment in public schools has nosedived as parent disgust with school COVID-19 policies, student learning losses, and controversial education policies has gone through the roof.
I just spent the past 20 min working on peeling the bark off of this stick with my 4-year old because he wanted to use it as tinder for our fake fire.
It may not seem like much, but little activities like this every day with children add up and teach them to be patient, persevering adults with good work ethic who take pride in their accomplishments. Life is filled with mundane tasks every day, learn to use them as teaching moments to help you and your kids strengthen and grow!

A delicious sweet treat 😋 for the holidays! "Muddie Buddies" or "chow":
Melt on low, stirring constantly:
8 TBSP grass fed butter
1 tsp pure vanilla extract
1/2 cup organic chocolate chips
1/2 cup organic butterscotch chips
1/2 cup organic almond butter
In a large bowl, pour mixture over 8 cups of gluten free rice chex. Mix together well and shake bowl around to evenly distribute. Pour into large gallon bag (or extra turkey bag 😉) with 2 cups powdered sugar. Mix. Lay on pan to cool, then store in airtight container.

This Lego set is going for $74 +tax right now and I got it for $2.99 at Goodwill. It's currently soaking in white vinegar, soap and warm water to sanitize.
Normalize secondhand gifts. Buy gently used toys as birthday and Christmas gifts for your kids. They truly won't care if it doesn't come in the original plastic wrap that they rip apart two seconds after opening anyway. Kids toys get beat up so quickly, after a week that scuff or scratch that you bought it with will blend in with all the new ones they put on it, and you will have put the money you saved towards providing necessary items for your children, or saving for your family's longterm goals!

Another score and testament to the savings of secondhand shopping! This musical ride on/walker is $63 +tax and I got it for 5 bucks at Goodwill. It looks brand new but is missing the 3 plastic balls it originally came with. Still, it plays music, makes sounds and can be used as a ride on or walker!

Wholesome moment alert! My family and I stopped into a hot cocoa bar to warm up earlier today and as we sat down these Christmas carolers came in. They sang O Come All Ye Faithful and then Joy to the World. It was a beautiful and wholesome moment that we were thankful to witness! Little things like this, where 10 volunteers spend their free time walking around in 30 degree temperatures to spread the spirit of Christmas is so white pilling! 💗
