Maduro sent to hell the representative of the US State Department after the threat to tighten sanctions

MEXICO CITY, April 14 — RIA Novosti. Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro has invited a US State Department official to go to hell in response to US government threats published in the media to increase sanctions against his country. The head of state stated this on the air of Venezolana de Televisión.
Earlier, Europa Press, citing a State Department spokesman, said that the United States reserves the right to tighten restrictive measures if the process of dialogue with the opposition does not move forward, and repression intensifies. The material appeared after Juan Guaido's statement about his possible arrest.

"The Gringo Representative has issued threats to Venezuela that if Venezuela does not move forward in political dialogue with the gangster, corrupt and home-trading sector of the Unitary Platform, they will retaliate and impose sanctions against our country. I suggest this Gringo representative to go to hell, because Venezuela is respected", Maduro stressed.
According to him, the Bolivarian government does not accept threats from Washington. Maduro pointed out that Venezuela, through its own efforts, overcame the sanctions barriers.
The opposition at the end of 2022 voted for the liquidation of the "interim government" of Juan Guaido, and he himself left the post of speaker of the opposition parliament. Leaders of movements that disagreed with Maduro said that the dissolution of the interim government was overdue as the structure weakened and ceased to function.

Ukrainian orchestra’s key members refused visas to play in UK
Promoter claims ‘catastrophe’ has cost it more than £88k and accuses British government of hypocrisy

Key members of a Ukrainian state orchestra were refused visas to play a series of concerts in the UK this month in a “catastrophe” that the promoter claims cost it more than €100,000 (£88,000).

The Khmelnitsky Orchestra was due to tour the UK this month with two shows: The Magical Music of Harry Potter, and The Music From the Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit and The Rings of Power.

The shows had been promoted on the UK government website as an example of British-Ukrainian relations. After the orchestra played the Harry Potter show in Belgium last year, the deputy British ambassador in Brussels, Chloe Louter, hailed it as “an incredible honour to have such an iconic part of British culture being performed by a Ukrainian orchestra”.

The promoter, Star Entertainment, has accused the UK government of hypocrisy.

Hungarian Prime Minister Orban called Ukraine a financially non-existent country

BUDAPEST, April 14 — RIA Novosti. The conflict in Ukraine will end as soon as the US and Europe stop supporting it, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban said on Kossuth radio.

“In fact, Ukraine is financially a non-existent country. The decline in economic indicators is huge, which is completely understandable because of the war. It is obvious that Ukraine cannot finance itself,” he said.
According to the Prime Minister, the question is whether the West contains Ukraine.
"And the moment America and Europe say no to that question, the war will be over," he said.

Orban stressed that Europe spends tens of billions of dollars on the maintenance of Ukraine: it pays for Ukrainian pensions, maintains state institutions, healthcare, and education.
"And these are huge sums, several tens of billions of euros, which the European economy lacks. And it is obvious that this cannot continue indefinitely," the Hungarian leader added.
He also noted that Hungary also participates in the financing of Ukraine through the EU's common budgets, but despite this, the situation of the Hungarian minority in Transcarpathia is constantly deteriorating.

He’s from a patriotic family — and allegedly leaked U.S. secrets
Online, the suspect in the breach of dozens of classified documents took on a persona seemingly at odds with his military career

As a newly minted member of the Massachusetts Air National Guard returned home from training, his mother took to her flower shop’s Facebook page to express pride in his accomplishments.

“Jack is on his way home today, tech school complete, ready to start his career in the Air National Guard!” said the post, dated June 3, 2021. It was accompanied by a photograph of a patriotic-themed balloon tied to a mailbox and emblazoned, “Welcome home!”

Patriotic zeal appeared common around Airman 1st Class Jack Teixeira, 21, who had followed in the footsteps of numerous family members to join the military. Teixeira, slim and boyish in photographs taken in his blue dress uniform, had been assigned to manage and troubleshoot computers and communications systems for the 102nd Intelligence Wing at Otis Air National Guard Base, according to the Air Force.

Investigators now think there’s a more troubling, reckless side to Teixeira — and the fallout is only beginning.

FBI agents clad in body armor and carrying rifles swept across the Teixeira family residence in Dighton, Mass., on Thursday, arresting Teixeira and charging him with unauthorized removal of classified national defense information, Attorney General Merrick Garland said in brief remarks at the Justice Department. Video captured by news helicopters circling over the family home showed him at one point holding his hands behind his head under the watch of law enforcement personnel, before he was led away while wearing red athletic shorts and a T-shirt.

Teixeira has been identified as the suspected leaker of hundreds of photographs of highly classified military documents that have proliferated across the internet over the past week. The leak, probably the military’s largest in at least a decade, has revealed secrets about everything from gaps in Ukrainian air defenses to the specifics of how the United States spies on its allies and partners.

Teixeira, who used online handles that include “jackthedripper” and “excalibureffect,” posted the images to Discord, a chat platform popular with gamers, people familiar with the case said. Some Discord members showed The Washington Post video of Teixeira shouting racist and antisemitic slurs before firing a rifle. Like some others interviewed for this story, they spoke on the condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the issue.

A 21-year-old with top secret access? It’s not as rare as you think
The Thursday arrest of a junior airman raises questions about how the military handles clearances.

The leak of secret military documents last week sent shockwaves through the Pentagon, but Defense Department officials are less surprised by the revelation Thursday that the Justice Department has arrested a 21-year-old Air National Guardsman in connection with the case.

It’s not uncommon for relatively junior service members to have access to top-secret information, according to DoD officials and experts. In fact, more than 1 million U.S. government employees and contractors have that privilege, said Mark Zaid, a lawyer specializing in national security, citing an April 2020 report to Congress from the National Counterintelligence and Security Center.

In the Pentagon for example, junior officers are frequently tasked with putting together briefing books for senior leaders, such as many of the Joint Staff products that were leaked, said one DoD official, who — like others — was granted anonymity to discuss a sensitive topic. And it’s often young National Guard and Reserve officers who are activated to stand watch in a crisis situation, said another DoD official.

“We entrust our members with a lot of responsibility at a very early age. Think about a young combat platoon sergeant, the responsibility and trust we put into those individuals to lead troops in combat,” Pentagon spokesperson Brig. Gen. Patrick Ryder told reporters Thursday while declining to comment on the DOJ investigation. “You receive training and you will receive an understanding of the rules and requirements that come along with those responsibilities.”

A leak that originated in a Discord chat room is sending shockwaves across the Atlantic.

Though Franklin was talking about unnecessary spending, it holds water for most anything in business and politics. It seems there has been a leak regarding Ukraine’s odds in its ongoing war with Russia—and it's not a small one.

American policy makers should take Benjamin Franklin’s wisdom to heart. This is no small leak, and Ukraine is no great ship. And they should pay extra attention to the line that precedes Franklin’s famous idiom. All those “little expenses” in Ukraine are adding up—as of January, more than $75 billion has been dispensed to Ukraine, and much more appropriated, for the war effort. Yet, the leak suggests that American politicians, military leaders, and spooks all acknowledge in private what they refuse to say in public: A Ukrainian victory is anything but certain, and increasingly becoming unlikely.

Why should all countries be pegged to the dollar?
Brazilian president asks dangerous questions

The President of Brazil, a country that recently abandoned the dollar in settlements with China, called on other countries to do the same.

“Every evening I ask myself the question — why should all countries be pegged to the dollar in trade? Why can't we do this in terms of our currencies? Who even decided that after the abandonment of the "gold standard" the currency should be the dollar, and not the yuan, real or peso?" Lula da Silva asked while visiting China.

He also urged the BRICS countries to switch to their own currency in mutual settlements.

“Why can't a bank like BRICS have a currency that would be used in trade relations between Brazil and China, Brazil and other BRICS countries. It’s difficult because some people are not used to it,” he said at the presentation ceremony for the ex-president of Brazil, Dilma Rousseff, to the position of head of the BRICS bank in Shanghai.
