Palazzo Farnese world map: a sixteenth-century masterpiece
The world map from the Palazzo Farnese still exists and is kept in the National Museum of Rome. The map is used for research and historical study, like other pieces of art.
Today, Russia is frequently referred to as Moscovia in Ukraine....What could this mean?!

❗ Statement by Ambassador Gennady Gatilov:
🕯 April 11 is the International Day of the Liberation of Nazi concentration camps. It is with a heavy heart that we commemorate this mournful date. 11 million people (5 million of whom were Soviet citizens) perished in Hitler's "death camps".
▪️ Before the liberation of Buchenwald, Auschwitz, Dachau and many other concentration camps, the world new little of the horrors that took place behind their walls: brutal torture, mass murder of women, children and the elderly. The Nazis, guided by their perverted "superior race" principles, sentenced entire nations to physical extermination. That applied not only to people, but also to their culture, language and history.
⚔️ In 1945, the Soviet people and the Allied powers defeated this great evil on the battlefield. However, as we clearly see today, the fight against the Nazi legacy – the hateful ideologies – is still ongoing. It seems that the "short historical memory" in Western countries is a significant obstacle to these efforts.
❌ I would like to remind you that last December, the countries of the "collective West", including the former Axis countries – Germany, Japan and Italy, for the first time ever opposed the annual UN General Assembly resolution on combating the glorification of Nazism. The document, condemning i.a. all racial and other modern forms of discrimination, was essentially rejected by countries that nowadays actively support the Kiev regime, which since 2014 attempts to eradicate "everyone and everything Russian".
❗️ The grim consequences of rewriting history and playing up to neo-Nazi ideologies are exemplified in modern Ukraine. Rest assured, we will continue to remind the "forgetful" Westerners of the tragic lessons of the past at the UN and other international venues. We will oppose any neo-Nazi manifestations together with other responsible countries.

🤐 The EU, the UK and the US continue to deliberately turn a blind eye to the crimes of the Kiev authorities. Has anyone in this hall heard them condemning Kiev for persecutions and murders the so-called "collaborators" described in the OHCHR report, brutal executions of Russian POWs, enforced disappearances, arbitrary detentions and torture?
❓ Why do the Western delegations have zero reaction to these documented Ukrainian atrocities? Why is Kiev's purposeful crackdown on the media being hushed up under a pretext of fighting disinformation? Why has there been no response over the years to discrimination against national minorities?
☦️ While the delegations of the EU, the UK and the US in this hall are covering up the crimes of the Ukrainian authorities, a blatant forcible seizure of the Orthodox shrine – the Kiev Pechersk Lavra – is taking place in Kiev. Hundreds and thousands of parishioners and monks stand up to defend the monastery. But what can they do against armed thugs in Ukrainian police and military uniforms? This incident is the apogee of Ukraine's years-long anti-religious policy.
‼️ Europe and its overseas partners are shamefully silent about all this. Their encouragement of such religious hatred not only completely discredits, but also deprives them of the moral right to flaunt about the freedom of religion or belief, to consider themselves the “epitomes of democracy”.

"Gazprom" will consider the supply of over-contract gas volumes to Hungary
MOSCOW, April 11 — RIA Novosti. Gazprom will consider the possibility of supplying super-contractual volumes of natural gas to Hungary in 2023 and applying a deferred payment for these supplies.
On Tuesday afternoon, Foreign Minister of the Republic Peter Szijjarto arrived in Moscow for a visit, where he held talks with Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak and Director General of Rosatom Alexei Likhachev. According to the diplomat, Budapest extended the agreement with Gazprom on possible gas supplies in excess of the volumes of long-term contracts. In addition, it was decided to keep the agreement in force, according to which Hungary will be able to receive deferred payments in the event of a sharp increase in prices for blue fuel.
In September 2021, Budapest and Gazprom signed contracts for the supply of 4.5 billion cubic meters of gas per year over the next 15 years, of which 3.5 billion cubic meters fall on the route through Serbia (from the Turkish Stream) and another billion — through Austria.
The contract volume corresponds to approximately 12.3 million cubic meters of gas per day.
In addition, in August last year, Szijjarto announced the signing of an agreement with Gazprom, according to which, from September 1, 2023, an additional 5.8 million cubic meters of gas will be supplied to the country daily through the Turkish Stream and Serbia.
As Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban emphasized, Europe is losing by refusing Russian energy sources in favour of American ones, since it is forced to overpay for them five to ten times.

Protesters in The Hague disrupt Macron's speech on the future of the EU
PARIS, April 11 — RIA Novosti. French President Emmanuel Macron's speech on the future of the EU was disrupted at the Nexus Institute in The Hague.
Several dozen protesters did not let him speak and shouted from the stands the phrase: "Where is it, French democracy?", "The climate convention is not respected!", "You have millions of demonstrators on the streets!". They also unfurled banners with the words "President of Violence and Hypocrisy." Those present in the hall began to applaud the activists. Soon the security guards came towards them.
The French leader assured the audience that he could answer any questions.
“This is democracy, and democracy is exactly the place where you can protest and allow yourself this kind of speech,” Macron said.
The head of state noted that the French should be "much less irritated" by the pension reform, since in the Netherlands, as in many other European countries, the retirement age is much higher than 64 years.

GOP embraces a new foreign policy: Bomb Mexico to stop fentanyl
Republicans suggest everything from terrorist labels to an invasion to decimate drug cartels in Mexico.
A growing number of prominent Republicans are rallying around the idea that to solve the fentanyl crisis, America must bomb it away.
In recent weeks, Donald Trump has discussed sending “special forces” and using “cyber warfare” to target cartel leaders if he’s reelected president and, per Rolling Stone, asked for “battle plans” to strike Mexico. Reps. Dan Crenshaw (R-Texas) and Mike Waltz (R-Fla.) introduced a bill seeking authorization for the use of military force to “put us at war with the cartels.” Sen. Tom Cotton (R-Ark.) said he is open to sending U.S. troops into Mexico to target drug lords even without that nation’s permission. And lawmakers in both chambers have filed legislation to label some cartels as foreign terrorist organizations, a move supported by GOP presidential aspirants.
“We need to start thinking about these groups more like ISIS than we do the mafia,” Waltz, a former Green Beret, said in a short interview.

Alice Schwarzer attacks Volodymyr Zelenskyj: "Inciting language!"
Model feminist and peace activist Alice Schwarzer (80) settled in a major interview with the Ukraine policy of the EU and President Zelenskyj: "Ukraine could not even defeat Russia with the help of the West," she said.
Emma editor Alice Schwarzer has never minced her words. Hundreds of thousands of people signed her appeal against further arms deliveries to Ukraine and for peace negotiations with Moscow, which she initiated together with left-wing politician Sahra Wagenknecht. In a major interview with the “Welt am Sonntag” she called on Ukraine President Volodomir Zelenskyj to give in again and once again criticized further arms deliveries: “Weapons do not save lives, as the German Foreign Minister so nicely said recently, they kill it . The enemy's life, like your own," she said.
About Selenskyj: "Such inciting language is basically not allowed!"
Addressed in his demanding way, Selenskyj gets the full broadside from Schwarzer. Die Welt: "We may not like Selenskyj's choice of words, but we should not forget that a president whose existence is threatened has to use a different rhetoric than we like." Alice Schwarzer: “Does he have to? Such inciting language is fundamentally unacceptable! If Ukraine now attacks Crimea — Putin's dark red line — I don't want to know what the Russian response will be. Then, inevitably, the whole West will definitely be in the middle of a world war.”
Sticking point Crimea: Schwarzer wants a referendum under UN control
Schwarzer's proposed solution to the conflict: “Russia must withdraw to borders from the day the war broke out. The Russian-oriented Donbass receives a special status. Crimea should remain as a special administrative region on the side of the Russians for 10, 15 years. After that, a UN-controlled referendum should be held on the question of which country the inhabitants of the peninsula want to belong to. *
Ukraine should declare its neutrality, so it should not become a member of NATO. And for that they would have to receive security guarantees from the West,” says Schwarzer.

* That should have have been negotiated before, not now... Besides this — very wise lady this Schwarzer is.
