From April 1, Russia will head the UN Security Council.

The main goal of Russia's chairmanship of the UN Security Council is to prevent violations of the UN system itself. On March 15, Izvestia was told about this by Alexei Chepa, First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs.

On this day 150 years ago Russian composer Sergey Rachmaninoff was born!

Rachmaninoff's music is known for its lush harmonies, sweeping melodies, and virtuosic piano writing. He composed works in a variety of genres, including symphonies, concertos, and chamber music, but he is perhaps best known for his piano works, such as the Prelude in C-sharp minor and the Piano Concerto No. 2.

Secretary of the National Security and Defence Council of Ukraine Oleksiy Danilov proposed to "rename" Sevastopol.

"Renamed to 'Object No. 6'. The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine will later decide on a new name for the city. Maybe Akhtiar [one of the villages that previously existed on the northern shore of the Sevastopol Bay],"
he wrote on Facebook on Sunday (banned in Russia , belongs to the Meta corporation, recognized as extremist in the Russian Federation).

According to him, this will allegedly allow breaking historical associations with the city of Russian military glory. Danilov also called for the demolition of the monument to the scuttled ships and the installation of another "commemorative sign" on its pedestal. According to him, the NSDC apparatus is "developing a detailed program" of actions.

His plan also includes "criminal prosecution for collaborationism and treason, a lustration mechanism of personal assessment is being developed, which, in particular, determines the level of responsibility and the degree of involvement of specific persons, citizens of Ukraine, residents of Crimea in supporting the activities of the occupation administrations, which includes, in particular, the limitation of the right to participate in elections β€” to elect and to be elected."

Also, he writes about the residents of Crimea, β€”
"Ukrainian courts will determine whether they are subject to criminal liability. But if they are not eligible, they are deprived of state pensions, including with a ban on further employment in state bodies and local self-government bodies of Ukraine."

I believe, that statements instead of intimidation of Crimean population (as designed by Danilov) will only clarify, why Crimea has chosen to join Russia... Kiev regime will never let live Russian population of Ukraine in peace.

Russia reacted to Ukraine's desire to rename Sevastopol

The proposal by Secretary of the National Security and Defence Council (NSDC) of Ukraine Oleksiy Danilov to rename Sevastopol looks like a sign of helplessness.

β€œIt is quite difficult to imagine how they are going to achieve their goals. The fact that they among themselves will cease to call the city by its current and at the same time historical name will in no way affect the course of life in Sevastopol itself, the role of the Black Sea base of the Russian fleet and its historical significance. This will in no way affect the fact that the inhabitants of this city live in Sevastopol and are proud of the city itself, and its name, and its history,”
Novikov noted, commenting on Danilov’s words.

All this looks like a manifestation of helplessness, the deputy is convinced. He added that Secretary of the National Security and Defence Council of Ukraine Oleksiy Danilov and President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky can no longer change anything.

β€œTherefore, they only have to deal with the PR that has become an integral part of the activities of the Zelensky team. Everything that can attract attention even for a few minutes in an anti-Russian context is invented, constructed, composed. This event is from the same series. There is simply no point in considering it otherwise,” concluded the interlocutor of Lenta.ru.

In March, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky instructed Prime Minister Denys Shmygal to "thoroughly work out" the issue of renaming Russia to Muscovy.

Russia reacted to Ukraine's desire to rename Sevastopol

Sergei Tsekov, a member of the Federation Council Committee on International Affairs from the Republic of Crimea, in an interview with RT, commented on the statement by the Secretary of the National Security and Defence Council (NSDC) of Ukraine, Alexei Danilov, about the idea of renaming Sevastopol.

β€œDanilov is a pathological traitor. And traitors always hate the ones they betray the most. He betrayed his mother, who remained in the Donbass. Betrayed Donbass, which was his homeland. He betrayed his nationality. He is Russian by nationality, but now he is fiercely fighting everything Russian in Ukraine,” said Tsekov.

Ukraine Victory Unlikely This Year, Milley Says
β€œI'm not saying it can't be done. I'm just saying it's a very difficult task,” says top U.S. general.

Summary:
Gen. Mark Milley, the top U.S. officer, said Ukraine is unlikely to push away all Russian forces from its territory this year, calling the task a difficult one. Milley noted that Ukraine's President Zelenskyy had expressed the objective of removing every Russian from Ukraine, but there are still a couple hundred thousand Russians in the country.

Milley also discussed the ATACMS long-range missile and stated there's no policy decision to provide it to Ukraine yet. Lawmakers are pressuring the U.S. on its support for Ukraine's forces, and Milley warned the incredible consumption rates of conventional munitions in wartime.

He also said the U.S. defense industry needs several years to backfill all that has been spent and ramp up production to meet the Pentagon's needs.

One thing our rulers learned from war in Iraq? Make a better job of deceiving us, writes PETER HITCHENS

Summary:
Peter Hitchens reflects on the 20th anniversary of the Anglo-American invasion of Iraq and criticizes those who supported the war, particularly former Prime Minister Tony Blair and his propaganda chief Alastair Campbell. The author had opposed the war from the beginning and had even written an article on the matter, stating that it was not a war for national survival and that patriotic British people who believed in fair play should be against it.

The journalist expressed disappointment towards Blair and Campbell, who misled the public into supporting the war, and stated that both of them should be living out their days in the penitential silence of a Trappist monastery deep in some remote mountain range. However, the author was astonished that both of them still feel able to appear in public, offering advice to the nation they misled into supporting the war. The author also criticized the BBC for taking them both seriously.

The author was grieved that so many of the fantasies which these men peddled were believed by people who should have had more sense. Peter Hitchens also expressed concern that the British and American governing classes learned only one thing from the episode, which was to make a better job of deceiving the public next time.

The author also expressed near-despair that the warmongers of the West have fooled us into the large-scale long-term conflict they have been seeking for so long, ever since the Iraq invasion blew up in their faces. The journalist argued that the actions of the West created the Ukraine crisis when it could so easily have been avoided. However, any attempt to explain this would only lead to abuse.

The author also warned that just as there were in 2003, there really are now people, high in American politics, who think that the USA is itself so good that it is entitled to make war on countries it disapproves of, directly or indirectly. The author argued that there are people in Britain who are prepared to do their bidding. The author also warned of the Military-Industrial Complex, against which President Eisenhower (no peacenik Marxist) warned so fiercely in his farewell speech in January 1961.

Overall, the author's article reflects on the negative consequences of the Anglo-American invasion of Iraq and expresses disappointment towards those who supported it, as well as concern about the current state of international affairs and the potential for future conflicts. The author emphasizes the importance of an informed and vigilant citizenry to ensure that security and liberty may prosper together.
