Secretary of the National Security and Defence Council of Ukraine Oleksiy Danilov proposed to "rename" Sevastopol.

"Renamed to 'Object No. 6'. The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine will later decide on a new name for the city. Maybe Akhtiar [one of the villages that previously existed on the northern shore of the Sevastopol Bay]," he wrote on Facebook on Sunday (banned in Russia , belongs to the Meta corporation, recognized as extremist in the Russian Federation).

According to him, this will allegedly allow breaking historical associations with the city of Russian military glory. Danilov also called for the demolition of the monument to the scuttled ships and the installation of another "commemorative sign" on its pedestal. Russia reacted to Ukraine's desire to rename Sevastopol

The proposal by Secretary of the National Security and Defence Council (NSDC) of Ukraine Oleksiy Danilov to rename Sevastopol looks like a sign of helplessness.

“It is quite difficult to imagine how they are going to achieve their goals. The fact that they among themselves will cease to call the city by its current and at the same time historical name will in no way affect the course of life in Sevastopol itself, the role of the Black Sea base of the Russian fleet and its historical significance. This will in no way affect the fact that the inhabitants of this city live in Sevastopol and are proud of the city itself, and its name, and its history,” Novikov noted, commenting on Danilov’s words.

Russia reacted to Ukraine's desire to rename Sevastopol

Sergei Tsekov, a member of the Federation Council Committee on International Affairs from the Republic of Crimea, in an interview with RT, commented on the statement by the Secretary of the National Security and Defence Council (NSDC) of Ukraine, Alexei Danilov, about the idea of renaming Sevastopol.

“Danilov is a pathological traitor. And traitors always hate the ones they betray the most. He betrayed his mother, who remained in the Donbass. Betrayed Donbass, which was his homeland. Ukraine Victory Unlikely This Year, Milley Says
“I'm not saying it can't be done. I'm just saying it's a very difficult task,” says top U.S. general.

Gen. Mark Milley, the top U.S. officer, said Ukraine is unlikely to push away all Russian forces from its territory this year, calling the task a difficult one. Milley noted that Ukraine's President Zelenskyy had expressed the objective of removing every Russian from Ukraine, but there are still a couple hundred thousand Russians in the country.

Milley also discussed the ATACMS long-range missile and stated there's no policy decision to provide it to Ukraine yet. Lawmakers are pressuring the U.S. on its support for Ukraine's forces, and Milley warned the incredible consumption rates of conventional munitions in wartime.

He also said the U.S. defense industry needs several years to backfill all that has been spent and ramp up production to meet the Pentagon's needs.
