Then it was connected with the hysteria promoted by the West itself that Moscow was about to use nuclear weapons in Ukraine. Moreover, the voluptuousness with which Western officials and the media discussed this topic leaves no doubt that this was a very desirable development for them and, in fact, they tried to provoke the Russian leadership to take the appropriate step.
It was at that time that "military sources" in the Pentagon told Newsweek reporters that the assassination of Vladimir Putin figured among the options for an American "strong response" being discussed.
Yesterday, the Russian Foreign Minister returned to this topic and noted that "if such ideas are actually hatched by someone, this someone should think very carefully about the possible consequences of such plans."

Kyiv sentenced Kherson official extradited by Latvia to 15 years for cooperation with Russia

GENICHESKY (Kherson region) December 28 - RIA Novosti. The Latvian authorities have extradited to Ukraine an assistant to the head of one of the village councils on charges of cooperation with Russia, Yury Barbashov, head of the Russian administration of the Snigirevsky district of the Kherson region, told RIA Novosti.

“One of the assistants to the heads of village councils who evacuated with us, Larisa Kotlyar, spent some time in the Russian Federation, and then decided to visit her daughter, who lives in Europe. Literally on the Latvian border, she was arrested, deported to Ukraine and immediately convicted for 15 years," the source said.

According to the head of the administration, people were simply distributing humanitarian aid and allowances and were sure that they were not committing any crimes under Ukrainian laws.

RUSSIA WARNS GREECE NOT TO SEND S-300 MISSILES TO UKRAINE

#Russia on Monday warned Greece that a potential delivery of Greece’s Russian-made #S300 #missile defense system to Ukraine would be considered “a very provocative move.”

The spokesperson of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria #Zakharova said that the Russian armed forces will locate and destroy all military supplies sent to #Ukraine.

“We consider plans to supply the Kyiv regime with S-300s or other Russian/Soviet air defense systems that will be used against Russia very provocative.

“The Greek authorities recently underlined their readiness to supply Ukraine with the S-300 PMU1 missile defense system, on condition of receiving #US #Patriot #missile defense systems to replace them.”

As of Tuesday, Greece has not officially confirmed the potential transfer of S-300s to Ukraine.

In June 2022, #Panagiotopoulos had ruled out the prospect of Greece transferring its S-300s to Ukraine, proclaiming that Greece faces “a real threat” and would not transfer “what we need, what is useful, and mainly operationally active.”
