The Royal Marines have taken part in covert operations in Ukraine, a senior general has admitted for the first time.

Lieutenant General Robert Magowan said the commandos supported “discreet operations” in a “hugely sensitive environment”. He said their missions carried “a high level of political and military risk”.

Magowan is the former commandant general of the Royal Marines, having joined the Royal Navy’s elite unit in 1989.

Europe Imports Huge Amounts of Diesel With Russia Sanctions Near

Europe is bringing in diesel cargoes from around the world at close to a record pace ahead of the coming ban on shipments from its biggest external supplier.

In the first 10 days of this month, the UK and European Union imported more than 16 million barrels of diesel-type fuel via ship — a rate that, if continued, would make December’s total the second-highest since at least the start of 2016, according to data provided by Vortexa Ltd. and compiled by Bloomberg.

Europe is structurally short of diesel and has long relied on others for imports. With much of December’s arrivals coming from Asia and the Middle East, the shipments provide a glimpse into how the region might get by after EU sanctions banning seaborne deliveries from Russia take hold in February.

According to him, there were cases when the commanders of the Armed Forces of Ukraine boiled tankers in cars to force them to go on the offensive.

Marochko added that the Ukrainian army mainly uses outdated T-64 tanks.
Earlier, a Russian intelligence officer in the LPR told RIA Novosti about Ukrainian tanks and armored personnel carriers, in which the crew was welded from all sides. According to him, the military of the Armed Forces of Ukraine turned the turret back with a cannon, slowly drove up to the positions of the allied forces, turned off the engine and tapped out SOS signals, after which Russian technicians pulled them out of the vehicles.
