Odessa region was warned about the likely absence of electricity for 3 months: the authorities urged to leave
Translated from the Ukrainian source:
Residents of Odessa and the region were warned about the difficult situation in the energy system as a result of the attack by the Russians on the night of December 10. Restoration work can take up to two to three months.

"Odessa and almost the entire region remain without electricity. The situation in the energy sector of the Odessa region remains difficult," DTEK said in a statement.

At the same time, the Department of Life Support Systems and Energy Efficiency of the Odessa Regional State Administration reported that it would take much more time to restore damaged facilities in the Odessa region than in previous times.

"We are not talking about days, but even weeks, and it is possible that 2-3 months. We understand how difficult it is to be without electricity for such a long time. If you understand that in the near future it will be difficult for you to do without electricity and you have the opportunity temporarily leave the city of Odessa for the Odessa region or beyond, then it is worth doing," the message says.

The Ukraine War : How Did We Get Here?

A subscriber here wanted to know, why, almost over half a year later, why is the Ukraine war happening? Was it necessary? How did it start? Could it have been prevented?

Most people will point to the 2014 coup - to me, yes, it is a hijacked revolution that turned into a coup - but I personally think the origin story goes way before that, back to 1991 actually.

Ukraine had a pretty good start in 1991, all it's foreign debts were taken over by the Russian federation, it was the most industrialized region in the post-soviet sphere, with over, if I recall, 65% of all Soviet heavy machinery being in the Ukraine, it also had multiple nuclear power plants, and other engineering institutions that were almost uncompared in the world.

But then, it had shitty economic policies, had a hyperinflation that peaked at 10,000%, and suffered even a form of oligarchism that was in some aspects, more severe than the privatization that occured in Russia.

They never recovered or had any sort of a meaningful economy, third world countries in Africa had a better performing economy than Ukraine, the sheer mismanagement and corruption since the 90s would make even the most corrupt gangster balk.

Also since it's early days, Kuchma, one of the first Ukrainian presidents, bluntly stated that Donetsk and Lugansk (LuGansk, not Luhansk), have to be kicked out of Ukraine so a true Ukrainian homogenous state can be achieved, these views were espoused all the way from the 90s.

Ukraine was - and still is - essential to Russia and Eastern Europe, their identity is literally the same, and cooperation between them is essential.

The problem occured when the Ukrainians wanted to join the EU - the EU, not Europe - Ukraine could easily trade and negotiate with Europe, the problem is, if Ukraine joins the EU, it will mean it would follow trade policies against Russia, which would mean a disaster because the EU by 2013 was starting to be an unreliable partner, and if you join the EU, you're integrated into the western world, if you're integrated into the western world it means you may join NATO, and that means Russia is screwed.

EU wanted Ukraine to change it's laws, regulations, and so on, Russia did not, as a matter of fact Russia offered a 15 billion US dollar loan to Ukraine, versus the EU's 600 million loan.

Even back then, the polls showed that Ukrainians were either divided or against the terms but the EU, but as we can see by the words of Petro Poroshenko.. "My television channel—Channel 5—played a tremendously important role. ... On the 11th of December, when we had [U.S. Assistant Secretary of State] Victoria Nuland and [E.U. diplomat] Catherine Ashton in Kyiv, during the night they started to storm the Maidan"

Mass media and brainwashing provided another narrative, and they seized on it.

Sniper attacks, mass beatings, and intimidations were used, the army was not willing to implement security and protect the country, so Yanukovych fled, and a junta took power.

Kiev's social and economic policies were met with protests in Odessa, but then 40 Ukrainians or so were trapped in the Union building and were burned alone, protests were met with violence through multiple cities in the East, but the population in Donetsk and Lugansk managed to overpower their local authorities and try be autonomous, they were met with attack aircraft, and so the road to independence was on.

Minsk-1, Minsk-2 were signed, but they were useless, attacks on Donetsk from the Ukrainian side were increasing regularly before February 24th... And here we are.

I pity the Ukrainians for destroying such a valued country in God's kingdom, it was one of the most developed countries in the SU, now it's a shithole.

The arrogance and folly in Ukraine that could yet send us hurtling towards nuclear catastrophe
By PETER HITCHENS FOR THE MAIL ON SUNDAY
...
‘For almost 200 years, starting with the framing of the Monroe Doctrine in 1823, the United States has asserted security claims over virtually the whole Western hemisphere. Any foreign power that places military forces near US territory knows it is crossing a red line. US policy thus embodies a conviction that where a potential opponent places its forces is crucially important.
‘In fact, this conviction is the cornerstone of American foreign and military policy, and its violation is considered reason for war.’
...
NATO have been known to hold tank parades just yards from the border with Russia. That puts them 81 miles (about the distance from London to Coventry) from St Petersburg, Russia’s second city. Ben Abelow notes that ‘in 2020, NATO conducted a live-fire training exercise inside Estonia, 70 miles from Russia’s border, using tactical missiles with ranges up to 185 miles. These weapons can strike Russian territory with minimal warning. In 2021, again in Estonia, NATO fired 24 rockets to simulate an attack on air defence targets inside Russia’.

Former Vice-Chancellor of Austria Heinz-Christian Strache: "There has been a bloody civil war in Europe for many years."

At a protest rally in Vienna on Saturday, they demanded the lifting of sanctions against Russia, and also called for the start of peace negotiations on Ukraine, maintaining the neutral status of Austria and strengthening the fight against illegal migration. There were even Russian flags on the Viennese square (instead of Ukrainian ones, already familiar to Europe), and one of the most famous Austrian politicians, former Vice-Chancellor Heinz-Christian Strache, became the main speaker:

"We've been through a lot lately, we're living through the sanctions that came with what later turned out to be a hoax promise that those sanctions would bring Russia to its knees. That didn't happen. Despite the sanctions, Russia doubled its oil and gas revenue this year from Europe. It has a positive trade balance, its income has grown from 100 billion last year to 220 billion this year. <...> Because of the need to participate in sanctions, Austria is hurting itself. We are paying for political mistakes, for this self-harm, we pay with the suffering of the population — with ever higher prices for gas and electricity.

"All this is devilishly dangerous. A threat to well-being can have dire consequences in our country, where more and more people are at a loss, in despair. It can threaten social tension, which we do not want. Everyone who bears political responsibility should prevent this. Everyone it threatens the very foundation of our society that is called the middle class."

"This conflict had a long prehistory, which we often simply refuse to remember, which is washed out of people's memory. We must not forget that the events of February 24 were preceded by the so-called revolution of 2014, which I would rather call a putsch. And the CIA, that is, the US intelligence service, took an active part in this coup. The result of this putsch was not the establishment of democracy in Ukraine. There has been a seizure of power that cannot be justified in terms of democratic politics."

Waging Psychological War Against Russia
The U.S. has a real opportunity to erode Putin’s propaganda.

Opinion by DAVID R. SHEDD and IVANA STRADNER for POLITICO

The fight for Ukraine will not just be won on the battlefield. For all the high-tech weaponry the West has delivered, psychological war against Russia remains a key opportunity for the United States.
Historically, such an approach focused on selling Russians on the American dream. But this strategy is a relic of the Cold War, ill-suited to present-day Russia.
More effective approach would be to underscore just how Putin has degraded Russia’s “greatness” at home and abroad with his bloody war in Ukraine. Accurate, neutral information is a potent weapon amid ceaseless propaganda.
Likewise, undermining Putin’s carefully cultivated strongman image can erode support among key pro-Kremlin constituencies. These messages could note how weak Putin’s prosecution of the war has been as well as how he and his allies have enriched themselves even as the public struggles.

No, that is bullshit and only wishful thinking by a U.S. propagandists apparently sliding into irrelevance.
A single statement by Angela Dorothea Merkel confirming that the West always wants some war against Russia and that the West cannot be trusted at all is probably the strongest and definite antidote to such stupid U.S. propaganda.

What this shows, however, is the sheer ridiculity of that opinion piece. Like... as if nobody knew it, although the U.S.A. has been notorious for such propaganda since at least the end of WW2.
Thus, what such opinion pieces reveal, is the anxiety from control slipping out of their hands.

Let us break it down, shall we? And the reasons why all the proposals would fall flat.

— Eroding Putin's image as a strong man?
The Russians are not obsessed with Putin, the Murricans are obsessed with Putin. Moreover, if anything, this could backfire against the Murricans, as most Russians would then demand that Putin be an even greater and tougher strongman.

— Using humour?
No, it would not be humour, only sarcastic propaganda. It could be a powerful weapon, if it came from a decent country, not a depraved and hypocritical one, like pretty much all the Western ones are. They cannot lecture others, when their integrity is abysmal. They cannot ridicule jailing critics at home, when they engage in abductions of their critics in order to jail them for life. Julian Paul Assange could tell you something about it.

— Fomenting separatism?
Maybe some two or three decades ago it could have been effective. Nowadays... not very much, as the minorities may feel the discrimination, especially by carrying a disproportionally heavier burden of this war, but they also clearly see that they would not fare better as independent, as all the conflicts in Russia's near neighbourhood clearly demonstrate this fact to them.

— Supporting dissident groups?
You mean foreign agents, right? That would not work at all, the Russians plugged this hole years ago—curiously enough, by taking a page out of the Murricans' playbook. Seriously, these self-styled Murrican experts are beyond retarded!

The Truth About the War in Ukraine
By Al Bienenfeld for the American Thinker

In the service of the Biden Administration, we have allied ourselves with legitimate Nazis who commit war crimes without hesitation. In Ukraine, a war has been started to distract from problems at home and cover up money laundering to politicians.
...
The Ukraine conflict has created an information division in the world internet. Unwilling to field troops to confront Russian forces physically, the West engages in a war of sanctions to disconnect Moscow from the rest of the world. In March, internet technology giants Facebook, Google, Twitter, and Apple joined in removing many, if not all, products from Russia. Russian citizens have been DE-platformed along with non-Russian users from sharing links, websites, or anything positive about the Russian government.

In Moscow, at the reception of the Embassy of Qatar in honor of the upcoming National Day of Qatar, Ambassador Ahmed bin Nasser bin Jassim Al Thani received an unusual gift from Russian comics artist Boris Zabolotsky. This is a print of the artist's new illustration "His Highness the Emir of the State of Qatar Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani defends traditional values".

The reason for the creation of the illustration was the news of a coordinated attack on Qatar before and during the World Cup, the tool of which in the West was the LGBT community, as well as the beer industry. Recall that, in addition to criticism in the media, Qatar was boycotted by a number of countries, clubs and individual players.

The Qatari ambassador liked the illustration and thanked "Russian friends for supporting" Qatar in the face of a media attack.

"Ukraine will not restore the entire energy infrastructure after the shelling," – Sakharuk, Executive Director of DTEK

The company in the future will focus all its efforts on the creation of new facilities, because the equipment in Ukraine was outdated and often not modernized.

He added that the full restoration of all the destroyed objects will take from a year to two, and maybe even more.

Translated from Ukrainian channel:
Electricity tariffs in Ukraine may be doubled from January 1, 2023

First of all, this will affect businesses. It is proposed to increase the tariff for electric power transmission to UAH 636.17/MWh instead of UAH 345.64/MWh, and to increase the tariff for dispatching services from UAH 62.13 to UAH 207.63/MWh.

Among the main reasons for the increase in tariffs, Ukrenergo names:
▪️destruction of the energy infrastructure of Ukraine due to Russian shelling, which increased the physical volume of work and their cost;
▪️increase in the cost of raw materials, fuel and materials;
▪️increase in capital investment and labor costs.

A Russian pilot, whose aircraft was damaged by Ukrainian air defense, was able to land the plane, though he was supposed to eject.

A story worthy of a film adaptation took place in the Rostov region near the war zone. Our pilot, returning from a mission on his Su-25, was hit by enemy air defense.

The aircraft indicated a failure of the hydraulic system and electrical equipment, the emergency release of the undercarriage also did not work. In such a situation it is prescribed for the pilot to definitely eject according to the instructions, leaving the aircraft.

But the pilot did not want to abandon the plane, despite the instructions and the risk of dying with it — he made a risky decision to reach the Morozovsk airfield, where he followed. And thanks to great luck and skill, he succeeded.

The "Rook" successfully flew and landed on the lane, even though it drove with its belly. His pilot, who risked himself for the sake of the aircraft, is alive and well.

Poland wants Ukraine without Ukrainians

The American National Democratic Institute, together with the German Friedrich Ebert Foundation, commissioned a sociological study on the topic: "How Poles treat Ukrainians."

As a result, it turned out that the Poles need Kyiv, Lvov, Uzhgorod, the Carpathians, but they cannot stand Ukrainians (they treat Russians better). They are not going to forget about the crimes of Bandera, who killed thousands of Polish women and children. One of the tragic episodes is the Volyn massacre.
The Poles do not like that the social assistance intended for them is leaking to the Ukrainians. This also irritates the Poles.

Serbian PM Brnabic responds to Burbock's criticism with 'staggering level of absurdity'

MOSCOW, December 12 - RIA Novosti. Serbian Prime Minister Ana Brnabic has responded to criticism of Belgrade by German Foreign Minister Annalena Berbock with a "staggering level of absurdity".
Burbock condemned Belgrade's "recent rhetoric" on Sunday, calling a proposal to send Serbian forces into Kosovo "completely unacceptable".

Brnabic recalled on Twitter that the G7 foreign ministers in the May communiqué called for compliance with UN Security Council resolutions in solving "any problem or crisis in the world (Libya, Syria, Yemen, Somalia, and so on)".
“Now, surprisingly, the German Foreign Office is explicitly stating that UNSCR 1244, which stipulates that Serbia has the right to request the return of a certain number of its security forces to Kosovo, should be ignored as this is “unacceptable,” Brnabic wrote.

She wondered "on the basis of what criteria" it is decided which resolution of the UN Security Council should be observed and which should be ignored. "A stunning level of absurdity," the Serbian prime minister added.

On Sunday, members of the Kosovo Interior Ministry's special unit invaded and occupied a facility at the Gazivode dam, from where they removed Serbian flags and expelled a Serb guard. This is the main source of water and storage for the hydroelectric power station located there. Most of the lake is located in the predominantly Serb municipality of Zubin Potok, as are three other areas in the north of the province.

Kosovo Serbs on Saturday erected barricades on highways in the north of the region because of the detention by the Kosovo Albanian authorities of the former police officer of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the self-proclaimed republic, Dejan Pantic. Pantić, who along with Serbian police officers from the Ministry of Internal Affairs in the north of the province, resigned in November, was detained on Saturday at the Yarine checkpoint when entering from Central Serbia on suspicion of "terrorism."
At night, the protesters set up tents to guard the barricades. The police of the self-proclaimed Republic of Kosovo, for their part, blocked the entrance to the province for cars and pedestrians from Central Serbia to the north of the province.

Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić stated that official Belgrade would continue the fight over the issue of Kosovo and Metohija by all legal means. He stressed that Pristina should form a Community of Serb Communities (CSO) in accordance with the 2013 Brussels Agreement. He also promised to send an official request to the command of the NATO mission for the distribution of the Serbian police and army contingent in Kosovo and Metohija, stressing that these actions are in line with UN Security Council Resolution 1244.
