When I first heard the word “holodomor”, I didn’t understand what was meant by it. The word “holod” (холод) means “cold” in both Russian and Ukrainian. Therefore, the literal translation of the word “holodomor” is “death by cold”, not “death by hunger”. The word for “hunger” is “голод” in both Russian and Ukrainian, so the made up event of “holodomor” should have really been called “golodomor”, if it was indeed “death by hunger” that was implied.

Clearly, the letters were switched in order to make it sound more like "Holocaust", which, by the way, is another word nobody in the USSR ever heard prior to its arrival from the West.

Now, it seems that whoever came up with the “holodomor” oddity actually predicted the future, as Ukraine is about to face a very real “death by cold”.
