“We sent our demands to these countries. The topic of extradition is being discussed, but so far there have been no positive changes in the issue of extradition of persons involved in terrorist activities, ”the TASS minister quotes.

He recalled that Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson will soon arrive in Turkey at the invitation of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. Issues of concern to Ankara will also be discussed at the bilateral talks.

Bozdag pointed out that if Helsinki and Stockholm take decisive steps to combat terrorism in Turkey, and also reconsider the issue of sanctions, including an arms embargo on Ankara, then the republic will be ready to ratify the agreement on the entry of these countries into NATO.

It is worth noting that on the same day, the NATO Secretary General said that Finland and Sweden had allegedly already fulfilled all the requirements of Turkey and it was time to accept them into the alliance. Against this background, Bloomberg reported that before the end of 2022, Turkey is unlikely to sign Sweden's application for NATO membership.

The publication, citing an unnamed source in the Turkish parliament, notes that Stockholm has not yet fulfilled Ankara's demands. In addition, by the end of the year, the agenda of the Turkish parliament is allegedly already occupied with other issues.

At the same time, as Bloomberg emphasizes, Turkey is allegedly satisfied with cooperation with Finland, however, a separate vote on the topic of Scandinavian countries joining NATO is not planned.

In addition to Turkey, out of 30 NATO countries, the application of Sweden and Finland has not yet been approved by Hungary. However, according to Bloomberg, this is not connected with any fundamental disagreements and Budapest is likely to ratify the document before the end of this year.
