It's just that this conflict was never exactly directed against Russia, it also targets Europe itself. In the 1950s, British General Lionel Ismay commented that NATO's role was to keep the US in, Germany weak and Russia out. That is why, to some extent, one can speak to some extent of success, for the time being, for the US. Europeans will be the first to feel the negative consequences of the conflict and will feel it more acutely than the Americans, at least at first. The US, by provoking Russia into Ukraine, has managed to alienate Russia and Europe in a way that can only be repaired in the long term. The reactivation of gas pipelines was a common theme of these demonstrations. Before European governments could give in, the US cut off all exit options. The US, therefore, is using Europe as a shield against Russia and even imposing on the Europeans a suffering that they did not choose and that, on the contrary, they fought to reverse. It cannot be seen as a coincidence that the attack comes 1 day after a populist victory in an important country like Italy, as well as 1 day after Orban's declaration of a referendum on sanctions. It is in this sense that one can say that Russia's objective is not just Novorussia or even Ukraine. Russia is also waging a more subtle and less visible war against NATO itself and US hegemony in Europe. This, however, is a war that Russia will take time to win.🙏
