The main thing from Russian MOD Shoigu's speech:

▪️ Ukraine has already lost half of the army: 61,207 dead, 49,368 wounded.
5,937 people died in the Russian Armed forces, almost 90% of the wounded returned to duty.

▪️Only those who have served, have a military specialty, combat experience are subject to partial mobilisation.

▪️ There is no question of any mobilization of students, conscripts are not subject to sending for a special operation.

▪️A total of 300 thousand reservists will be called up - Russia has a huge mobilization resource, almost 25 million people, slightly more than 1% are subject to partial mobilisation.

Shoigu: Partial mobilization is primarily needed to control the liberated territories and the 1,000 km line of contact.

"The line of contact itself, you can call it both the front line and the line of contact - it is more than 1,000 km. Naturally, what is behind, and what is there, along this line - this must be fixed, these territories must be controlled. And, of course, first of all, this is what this work is done for - I mean, partial mobilization".

Oil Surges 2% As Putin Orders Partial Mobilization

Oil prices jumped more than 2% on Wednesday after Russian President Vladimir Putin announced a partial military mobilization.

Brent crude futures jumped $2.28 (2.5% up) to $92.90 by 7:00 GMT, while US West Texas Intermediate crude moved up 2.6% to $86.16 per barrel, but one Singapore-based analyst insisted "It seems like a knee-jerk reaction to a sliver of news and would be liable to further recalibration in the coming hours.”

Washington also reiterated low hopes of reaching a breakthrough in the Iranian nuclear deal that could release Tehran’s output onto the market ahead of an expected third-straight 75 basis point interest hike from the Federal Reserve due Wednesday.

🔥The largest oil refinery in the United States is on fire.

Two people were injured in a severe fire at the BP-Husky Toledo refinery in Oregon, Ohio, owned by British Petroleum.

BP describes the plant as a "cornerstone" of the regional economy, which can process up to 160,000 barrels of crude oil daily, providing the Midwest with gasoline, diesel, jet fuel, propane, asphalt and other products.

The refinery can produce 3.8 million gallons of gasoline, 1.3 million gallons of diesel fuel and 600,000 gallons of jet fuel daily.

Putin says Russia's not responsible for the EU's energy crisis — it just needs to 'push the button' on the Nord Stream 2 pipeline to get more natural gas
From Markets Insider

Russian President Vladimir Putin denied Russian responsibility for Europe's energy crisis and said the EU can simply turn on the new Nord Stream 2 pipeline if it wants more natural gas from his country.

"The bottom line is, if you have an urge, if it's so hard for you, just lift the sanctions on Nord Stream 2, which is 55 billion cubic metres of gas per year, just push the button and everything will get going," said Putin after the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation summit.
He also criticized the "green agenda" — the EU's renewable energy push — which he said started the energy crisis even before the war in Ukraine.

The EU is staring at an energy crisis this coming winter as Russia supplies about 40% of Europe's natural gas, most of which is transported via pipelines.

European natural-gas prices have more than doubled from a year ago.

Special military operation in Ukraine and the Global Balance of Powers
It is only natural that Russia's special military operation of demilitarization and denazification in Ukraine has led to a division into opponents, supporters and those taking a neutral stance. This is fraught in any military conflict. We know from the depths of history similar cases of confrontations that started with small episodes of struggle for power and turned into protracted wars ending in the defeat of one of the sides. Statements by Sergei Lavrov. The main points:

— NWO in Ukraine will continue until its tasks are completed, no matter how long it takes

— The collective West, led by the United States, openly seeks to defeat Russia "on the battlefield" in Ukraine

— The US and Britain were afraid that Russia and Ukraine would agree, so they forbade Kyiv to negotiate with Moscow

— Weapons of NATO countries are used to kill civilians in the territories of the Russian Federation adjacent to Ukraine

— DPR, LPR, Zaporozhye and Kherson regions have the right to exercise the right to self-determination in accordance with the UN Charter

— Moscow will respect the choice of residents of the DPR, LPR, Zaporozhye and Kherson regions in referendums

— The frenzied reaction of the United States and its allies to the special operation drew a line under a whole stage of interaction between the Russian Federation and the West

— The West is unlikely to be able to restore confidence in itself as business counterparties in the foreseeable future

— Russia will continue to adapt to new financial realities, together with partners it will reduce the share of the US dollar in mutual trade

— Regarding the Americans detained in Ukraine, you need to contact Kyiv, as well as the leadership of the DPR and LPR through official diplomatic channels

— Russia does not exaggerate the importance of the midterm elections to the US Congress for straightening Russian-American relations

Britain buried relations with Saudi Arabia

Translated from RIA Novosti
Original text by David Narmania

It is no secret that sometimes the death of some people has an impact on the course of history no less (sometimes incomparably greater) than their lives. And if in relation to Queen Elizabeth II this is true only from the point of view of symbolism, then the assassination of Jamal Khashoggi affected the relations of Saudi Arabia with the West much more than all his activities during his lifetime.
Few could have imagined that the trails of these two deaths, separated by a whole continent geographically and four years in time, would meet, but it did happen. Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia Muhammad bin Salman and the de facto head of state had to leave the United Kingdom ahead of schedule - he arrived there at the invitation of London to attend the funeral of Elizabeth II, but the British authorities denied him such a right. The Riyadh delegation was headed by cabinet minister Turki bin Mohammed al-Saud. The reason, as you already understood, was the accusations of the murder of Khashoggi.

Saudi Arabia can hardly be called an example of humanism, but this does not negate the fact that the accusations against Muhammad bin Salman are unsubstantiated, at least for now. Western countries claim that he at least knew about the impending murder, and at the most he was its customer. The reason allegedly was criticism of the crown prince's actions by a journalist. At the same time, the West did not back up the accusations against him.
Definitely, only the CIA pointed out the involvement of bin Salman in the incident. At the same time, the office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights placed responsibility on the entire leadership of Saudi Arabia. And Amnesty International, for example, called the death sentence against five convicts whitewashing real criminals. The verdict, by the way, was subsequently replaced by prison terms.
And these people, as they say, forbid us to pick our noses... The unsubstantiated accusations of American intelligence have become a byword since the time of Colin Powell, who shook "anthrax spores" with a test tube at a meeting of the UN Security Council as proof that Iraq had weapons of mass destruction, which Hussein was not in the end.
Amnesty International in early August also showed quite colourfully what its statements are worth. The report that the Ukrainian army is using civilian objects and civilians as human shields caused a storm of emotions from Zelensky, and the organization was quick to apologize. Tellingly, the President of Ukraine did not even deny the fact of this use.
