That creates a positive feedback loop (going technical here) and increases polarisation and emotional overdrive.
Small virtual crowds in chats are calling to kill each other and big tangible organised crowds are actually doing that in the fields and streets of Donbas. It is possible even (in a way) to understand (but not to justify) calls from the Ukrainian side to kill all Russians, including children. Their small, not comfortable, but convenient world is crashing and going up in fumes and flames leaving desperate people to call for desperate measures.
Could all that been avoided? Certainly, it could. If it would be just Ukraine and Russia, without the interference of the collective West, which has created false hopes as well as a false sense of security for Ukraine, now left to fight with all that promised weapons to the last Ukrainian.
