Amnesty International is backing down!

The organisation said its report, which alleged violations of humanitarian and military law by Ukrainian troops, would be verified by "independent experts".

On the abolition of the Schengen visas for Russians

I do not think that the forecasts of the West in this regard will come true. Firstly, those who really need it have got EU passports or residents permits and do not need visas. Secondly, statistics show that very few of our compatriots regularly visited the countries of the Schengen zone: according to the study, in 2021, 536.2 thousand applications for a Schengen visa were submitted in Russia. I am against any restrictions on the freedom of movement, especially for those who were in a hurry to leave the country because of any reasons, but in my view it will cause an increase in travel and tourism to Asia and Africa as well as a development in the domestic tourism opportunities.

Latvian President Egils Levits called for the cancellation of residence permits and visas of Russians.

Egils Levits said the current policy of issuing residence permits and visas is "unjustified generosity" and previous governments "created security risks and promoted bilingualism."
