Canada has granted a sanctions exemption to allow a repaired Russian turbine to be sent back to Germany for the Nord Stream 1 gas pipeline. The Canadian government said the “time-limited and revocable permit” would support “Europe’s ability to access reliable and affordable energy as they continue to transition away from Russian oil and gas”. Canada also announced it would expand sanctions against Russia’s energy sector to include industrial manufacturing. Kyiv urged the Canadian government not to return the part to Germany, but Germany, which is facing severe gas shortages, is being threatened with a further squeeze on Russian gas by Moscow if the turbine isn’t returned.

Great, they will return a turbine for piping gas in order for Germany "to transition away from Russian oil and gas". Is there any consistency? Would it be easier to say that they are applying their own sanctions when they want, and do not apply, when they can benefit from it?

An article in The Guardian with some elements of truth in it.

Serhiy Haidai, the head of Luhansk’s regional military administration (of the Kiev regime), said on Friday that Russian forces have not slowed their campaign, rejecting western assessments that Russia had paused to rest and regroup after it successfully occupied almost the entire Luhansk region last week.

Haidai said on Telegram that Russian forces were “firing along the entire frontline” as they attempt to conquer more territory in the Donbas, control of which is one of their professed strategic goals.

Pavlo Kyrylenko, the head of the Donetsk regional military administration (of the Kiev regime), said on Saturday afternoon that Russia is shelling the Ukrainian-controlled town of Sloviansk “day and night”, and the nearby town of Druzhivka was hit by a Russian missile. The town of Kramatorsk was also hit, said Kyrylenko.

Kyrylenko said on Saturday morning that five people were killed and eight injured on 8 July, after a similarly heavy day of shelling in Donetsk.

Well, but did he say who was shelling Donetsk? For an unprepared reader it is all bad Russians... Also, strikes on Ukrainian controlled towns were carried out on military forces and facilities of Ukraine, some of which were placed in civilian buildings.
You can see, how just moving accents and manipulating data The Guardian may appear "objective and unbiassed", while completely distorting the picture. Students of journalism - take a note of it, can be very useful.

Ukraine tells Canada not to return a key part for Russia's gas pipeline to Europe, report says

From Business Insider

In June, Russia cut 40% of its natural gas supplies to Germany because a turbine sent to Montreal for repairs is now stuck in Canada due to sanctions imposed by the Canadian government on Russia's oil and gas industry last month.

German economy minister Robert Habeck told Bloomberg: "I'll be the first one who will fight for a further strong EU sanction package, but strong sanctions means it must hurt and harm Russia and Putin more than it does our economy."
Habeck fears that if Canada continues to hold the key component to the pipeline, it would give an excuse for Putin to keep it closed after maintenance is completed.

Release the turbine could be controversial for Trudeau's government as Canada has the largest Ukrainian population outside of Russia.

Ukrainian nationalists spoiled the only well in Volcheyarovka by flooding it with diesel fuel.

“They asked where the well was. We showed them. We came the next day, they poured diesel fuel there. People don’t have water,” a resident of the LPR told Izvestia correspondent Daniil Levin. Together with her three-year-old son, she stayed in the village, which is constantly fired upon by the APU fighters.

According to the woman, the Ukrainian military offered her to evacuate only to Poland and western Ukraine, but she wanted to stay at home.

Unexpected!
After brutal shelling of Donbass for entire May-June Russia have finally supplied Tochka-U Missiles to DPR forces.
Tochka-U is Soviet era ballistic missile system, which was not used by Russian Army. However, there were reserves in deep conservation at military warehouses. Now they will have a go.

Lithuania has expanded the list of restrictions on the transit of goods to Kaliningrad through its territory.

The updated list includes concrete, wood, alcohol and alcohol-based industrial chemicals. This was reported by representatives of the Lithuanian customs.

I am really curious about what would happen next?💤

Volodymyr Zelensky ordered the military to “de-occupy” coastal areas in the south, for this Ukraine is gathering millions of combat forces, Defense Minister Oleksiy Reznikov said.
Attention. Translated from an Ukrainian channel:

Our source reports that Zelensky's public statement demanding the de-occupation of the south of Ukraine is a "strike of last hope." An attempt to raise the morale of society and the army.
The reason is that earlier all our sources indicated that de-occupying these territories is virtually unrealistic.

Now the elite and locals in these territories have become disillusioned, starting to live a new life, cooperating with the Russians and establishing the functioning of control systems, slowly, but the Russians have stabilized the situation. Even the strategy of controlled terror launched by the SBU and the GUR with the blowing up of journalists, bloggers and officials did not stop this process (sometimes even caused a negative reaction in the perception of the Ukrainian world).

The source indicates that based on this, it was decided in the Office of President to make a loud public statement now. Everyone understands that such a statement will only complicate the implementation of the military scenario, because the Russian Federation is now concentrating forces there, and if the offensive and real success does not take place before September, then this can generate two critical messages in people's heads.
- means the Ukrainian Army has "lost".
- or the President lied and no one prepared anything and it was another PR move.

In conclusion, the source explained that with a massive counteroffensive, the losses of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in this sector would be huge. Also, the Armed Forces of Ukraine should outnumber the Russians by at least 2-3 times in manpower, be better equipped, and have more heavy weapons and artillery than the defenders. It should be understood that during the defence, the Russian Federation will have a huge advantage in aviation.

Perhaps this is a loud statement, an attempt by Zelensky to knock out more weapons and money in the West, which is now almost no longer given.

Translated from the same Ukrainian channel, published earlier, but proven by the current events (See below ⬇️)

Our source reports that the Main Intelligence Directorate and the Security Service of Ukraine reported to the Office of the President the information that the strategy of "controlled terror" in the territories of Ukraine, which are now controlled by the Russian Federation, will now be difficult to implement.
The Russians are strengthening police departments and "internal special forces", which will be sharpened to search for Ukrainian DRGs who have carried out deadly bombings of journalists, bloggers, and officials.
It is also known that the Russians were given the task not to take the DRG and demolitionists prisoner.

The source adds that the Office of the President demands that this strategy be continued at any cost, so that the Russians would not be able to stabilize this region, making life better and calmer there than in the territories controlled by Ukraine. Everyone understands that Kherson cannot be taken by military means, so bombings, murders of journalists, bloggers, cultural figures, businessmen and local officials, as well as explosions of infrastructure facilities are the only trump card of the Office of the President and the SBU / GUR.

Alas, there are no rules in this war, and the degree of hatred is growing.
