Civilian casualties in Donetsk: Why Ukrainian shelling of Donbass continues?

In the last weeks Ukrainian Army has increased the shelling of Donbass many-fold. Every day people in Donetsk are being killed and wounded. There is no military significance to those casualties, Ukrainian military are doing it not to achieve any tactical advantage, but just to show, that they can. Yes, indeed, they do.

To prevent completely civilian casualties in Donetsk and nearby towns and villages a control of the territory of about 600 to 1000 square kilometres is required. That is a big territory with complicated terrain and dense population. Ukrainian military had 8 years to prepare positions, shelters and routes for withdrawal.

The counter-battery strike ideally should be happening before the Ukrainian artillery opens fire, but that usually does not happen because of the lack of intelligence information on such a vast territory. Counter-battery radars may give coordinates of Ukrainian howitzers or Multiple Launch Rocket Systems (MLRS) within minutes of them opening fire, several more minutes are needed to get necessary permissions and open fire in response. Within that time Ukrainian military would fire dozens of rounds of ammunition on Donetsk and its suburbs. They don't have to aim at specific targets so they will always hit something... There are no means to stop an artillery shell in the air, though missiles and bigger MLRS projectiles (Uragan) are usually being intercepted, even in that case, their debris may inflict a lot of damage, which frequently happens.

With all that a question is arising: Is Russia doing enough to protect civilian population of Donbass?

The official representative of the People's Militia of the DPR, Eduard Basurin, said:
“Over the past day, according to the DPR Joint Control and Coordination Commission (JCCC), the enemy fired more than 200 shells from barrelled artillery of 155, 152 and 122 mm calibre, as well as 120 mm mortars.
The fire was fired at the districts of 10 settlements of the Republic. As a result of shelling, 16 civilians were injured (including three children), three civilians were killed.
28 residential buildings and 15 civil infrastructure facilities were damaged. Additional information about injured civilians and damage to infrastructure is being specified.”

However:
“By the joint actions of the military personnel of the Donetsk People's Republic and the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation destroyed the following enemy weapons and military equipment: two BM-21 Grad MLRS, three M-777 howitzers, one tank and one truck.
Three enemy firing points were suppressed in the areas of N. v. Avdeevka, Kamyshevka and Pervomayskoye.”

If not to let emotions to overwhelm clear thinking - that is a military disaster for the Ukrainian Army. Killing three civilians without any military gain, they have lost crucial military equipment, including highly valued imported American M-777 howitzers, and, what is more important - a score or two of trained military personnel (which is not written in the report, but is pretty much obvious)…

Obviously, they are distracting Russian forces from other targets and objectives, but it is not a military pragmatic sense, that is making Ukrainian Army to kill their own former citizens, but a psychological effect and media picture that can be achieved. It is a part of a campaign of terror on the people of liberated territories, which is being run by the Kiev regime.

That is what happening, when a showman is a Supreme Army Commander–in–Chief.

And now a glimpse of the truth - in the same article: "Around 1,050 UK service personnel are being deployed to run the programme, which will take place at MoD sites across the North West, South West and South East of the UK."
So, it is only about one thousand currently.

And here is something really interesting: "The UK has a long history of supporting Ukrainian service personnel through Operation ORBITAL, which trained 22,000 Ukrainians between 2015 and 2022."
