Activist fears were fuelled when Russia’s energy minister, Nikolai Shulginov, said the EU’s green taxonomy offered “a range of opportunities”. Speaking to the Energy Intelligence website before his country’s invasion of Ukraine, he said the inclusion of natural gas in the green taxonomy was evidence that the EU had realised it had made “a slight mistake” on the green transition.
Since the invasion, the EU executive has set out plans to phase out Russian gas, but member states have not fixed a deadline to stop gas imports, unlike Russian oil and coal.

Now they are afraid of China
MI5 head Ken McCallum said his service had more than doubled its work against Chinese activity in the last three years and would be doubling it again.
MI5 is now running seven times as many investigations related to activities of the Chinese Communist Party compared to 2018, he added.
The FBI's Wray warned that if China was to forcibly take Taiwan it would "represent one of the most horrific business disruptions the world has ever seen".
The first ever joint public appearance by the two directors came at MI5 headquarters in Thames House, London.
McCallum also said the challenge posed by the Chinese Communist Party was "game-changing", while Wray called it "immense" and "breath-taking".
Wray warned the audience - which included chief executives of businesses and senior figures from universities - that the Chinese government was "set on stealing your technology" using a range of tools.
He said it posed "an even more serious threat to western businesses than even many sophisticated businesspeople realised". He cited cases in which people linked to Chinese companies out in rural America had been digging up genetically modified seeds which would have cost them billions of dollars and nearly a decade to develop themselves.
He also said China deployed cyber espionage to "cheat and steal on a massive scale", with a hacking programme larger than that of every other major country combined.

Well, we do not have any illusions, that the new Prime Minister (and Foreign Secretary, hopefully) would change their stance towards Russia or would make any significant changes in the British foreign policy at all.
However, Liz Truss has personally very poor relationships with Sergei Lavrov after her visit to Moscow, and BoJo himself has something intimate in his attempts to compete (and fail every time) with Vladimir Putin.
The most recent was his disgusting attempt to measure whose p... is bigger ('We've got to show them our pecs!") at G7 summit. Previously there was a competition, in which country the COVID19 jab would be rolled out first. I remember, in UK it was Monday, but in Moscow it officially started on Friday... (though later, due to a higher level of discipline, British population has finished it en mass much faster). That bizarre competition, probably started even long before that - there was a speech by Putin about "democracy not working" (in context of modern Western states), which was instantaneously responded by BoJo...
At least we want to believe, that to the new leadership of the UK personal attitude and previously made mistakes would not completely prevail over common sense for which the British nation is renown. We hope, that if not blinded by Russophobia and hatred, they would be able to build more constructive relationships with Russia and the whole world. May be we are still naïve...
But not only we, as in Ukrainian channels there is also fear that "a major political crisis is brewing in Britain, which could also threaten global support for Ukraine on the international arena."

Well, that may be not the most burning issue in the modern world. However, it is very indicative in the demonstration of the attitude of the British (and US) officials to the international relationships and their own place and ability to cooperate. We have already written about the changes in the addresses of the British and American embassies in Moscow. Here is the continuation of the story:
MOSCOW, July 7 - RIA Novosti. The British embassy in Russia told RIA Novosti that it would not use the new address on Luhansk People's Republic Square and considered the old one on Smolenskaya Embankment to be relevant.
Recently the Capital's Department of City property reported that the embassy of the United Kingdom received a new address: Luhansk People's Republic Square, building 1. This information was entered into the address register of Moscow and the Federal Information Address System.
As follows from the commentary of the diplomatic mission, British diplomats do not intend to recognise this change.
"The current address of the British Embassy in Moscow is listed on the official website of the embassy," the press service said. There he is listed as 121099, Moscow, Smolenskaya embankment, 10.
The name "Square of the Lugansk People's Republic" was given to an unnamed territory located along the Smolenskaya embankment between Protochny Lane and the exit to Novy Arbat. Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin signed the corresponding decree on July 5.
Also at the end of June, the city authorities renamed the area near the US Embassy - now it is located at the address: Donetsk People's Republic Square, Building 1. In response, the diplomatic mission removed the address from the site in the usual format - only latitude and longitude are indicated there.
You see, they think that they are entitled to "recognise" or "not recognise" changes made by the local authorities in a capital of a sovereign country (and this country is Russia).
We can only remind that the "Russian Post Service" will deliver correspondence only if a proper address is clearly stated.

The final point was made by Russian Ministry of Defence and Russian Air Force:
"Amid military failures and a massive retreat of Ukrainian forces in Donbass, on the night of July 7, the Kiev regime attempted to symbolically deliver the flag to Snake Island.
💥Around 5am, several Ukrainian soldiers boarded the island from a motorboat and were photographed with the flag. Russian Aerospace Forces aircraft immediately struck Snake Island with high-precision missiles, killing some of the Ukrainian troops. The survivors fled in the direction of Primorske, Odessa region."

🇮🇳🇨🇳🇷🇺Russia has earned $24 billion since March on the sale of oil, gas and coal to China and India.
This is reported by Bloomberg with reference to its own research.
China has spent $18.9 billion on Russian hydrocarbons, which is twice as much as a year ago.
India paid $5.1 billion, which is five times more than last year.
The total revenue of the Russian Federation from hydrocarbon trade with Beijing and New Delhi increased by $13 billion.
The reorientation to India and China allowed Russia to cover the costs of Western sanctions.

There Is No ‘Magic Bullet’ That Can Turn The Tide For Ukraine
The military victory or defeat in the Russian-Ukraine War is likely to be determined by the side that has the highest quality of manpower and less on the platforms of war. For all its major missteps in the opening round, Russia began the war with a total active force of 900,000 whereas Ukraine had approximately 250,000.
Both sides have suffered egregious casualties since February – but Russia has hundreds of thousands more active troops from which to pull to replace its losses, whereas Ukraine has none. The impact on the battlefields of the Ukrainian disadvantages in weaponry and personnel is stark and unambiguous.
In a recent New York Times expose, Megan Specia wrote that a Ukrainian colonel admitted that most of the replacements being sent to his unit at the front have “never served in the army. The notion that people could simply spring to action when the war crept closer is wrong, he said. By then, it is too late.” As units like the one Specia described fall back from one city to the next, there is no military foundation upon which to base the hope that the Russian offensive will be stopped.
Moscow can replenish its personnel losses from an existing pool of relatively trained personnel. They have tens of thousands of additional tanks, armored personnel carriers, and artillery pieces to replace combat losses. Russia has a decisive advantage in air power. Putin’s military-industrial capacity to continue making missiles, rockets, and artillery shells has been diminished because of sanctions, but still functions – whereas most of Ukraine’s manufacturing capacity has been methodically destroyed.
In short, there is no valid military path through which Ukraine can hope that trading space for time will result in stopping Russia’s methodical progress through Ukraine – much less reverse it. To continue contesting every town and city is to ensure the Ukrainian casualties continue to mount and its urban areas destroyed. In the end, Russia is still likely to achieve a tactical victory.
It is necessary, in light of these physical realities, for U.S. and Western policies to change. Continuing to give verbal support to Ukraine and claiming that eventually, Kyiv’s side will win the war is not likely to change the outcome and is likely to result in a policy failure for Washington.
No one wants to negotiate from a position of weakness with an invading power, but the harsh truth is that the longer Zelensky and his Western supporters continue pursuing unrealistic objectives, the more likely Ukraine eventually suffers an outright military defeat.
