The American media also published articles calling on Russian diplomats to betray their homeland and choose freedom.
Theoretically, this could be an independent activity of American civil society, and the State Department, the FBI and the CIA have nothing to do with it. According to Antonov, the embassy demanded in writing from the State Department an explanation of what this means, but there is no answer yet.

But even if, by way of delirium, we assume that the Russian ambassador decides to use the prisoner pass sent to him and, appearing before First Deputy Secretary of State Wendy Sherman, announces: “I chose freedom!”, then what will his interlocutor do? Deeply unclear. Either she joyfully exclaims: “Our brother Anatoly, you will rejoice with us!”, Or she decides that the Russian ambassador has been very tired at work.
However, although there is no direct evidence of the involvement of the State Department in this interesting undertaking, there are some indirect convergences. The Prague precedent of April 2 of this year is not inferior to the current Washington one in terms of the degree of idiocy. Then the Czech Foreign Ministry, on behalf of the working team, that is, the head of the Foreign Ministry was, as it were, on the sidelines, addressed the personal of the Russian embassy, urging "Russian colleagues not to serve the criminal Putin regime and to leave the circle of accomplices." Employees of the Czech Foreign Ministry recalled that the embassy staff have "something important in common with them: we all serve our governments and our peoples as civil servants and diplomats." Therefore, those who "have retained their conscience and are able to recognize evil" must disarm before democracy and break with Moscow. The Moravian brothers, however, were answered: "Thanks to the Czech Republic for the generous offer, but we will refuse. We have enough conscience, and we are able to recognize the American lap dog when we see it."

Spiegel writes that Berlin does not agree with Madrid's plans to supply Kyiv with 40 old German-made Leopard 2 tanks. If Berlin had agreed, this would have been the first time that NATO tanks would have been delivered to Ukraine.
