Just recently we have posted a message from Donetsk about yet another shelling from Ukrainian side. Now, be careful, that is a translation from UNIAN website (Ukrainian):

As the Centre for Counteracting Disinformation under the National Security and Defence Council notes, the invaders fired at the centre of Donetsk in order to create a “picture” in the media that would be beneficial to Russian propagandists.
"In the evening, the propaganda media reported that "a series of explosions sounded in Donetsk... The Armed Forces of Ukraine fired 40 shells from Grad, hitting the centre of the city." However, such statements by the Russian media are shattered by reports of eyewitnesses from occupied Donetsk" ...
"In general, the actions of the propagandists are aimed at intimidating the inhabitants of the occupied territories and justifying the "special operation", and once again emphasize the cynicism of the invaders that they are ready to fire on the civilian population for the sake of another news headline," experts say.

So, they really are trying to continue with the same "they shoot themselves" or "air-conditioning exploded" stuff as they were doing for the whole eight years... The most terrible (apart from meaningless loss of life) is that there are people who may still believe it.

Journalist and blogger from Donetsk Igor Gomolsky writes about why the Kyiv regime is so fiercely shelling residential areas of DPR cities.

Many times I was asked: "What are these chaotic shelling of residential areas for, if in a military sense they do absolutely nothing?" Different people with different agenda and aims are asking the same question. The Russians have not yet fully understood who they are dealing with, the Ukrainians are trying to convince themselves that their government is not a bunch of cannibals, and the Europeans are simply shocked.

Firstly, such shelling deprives our troops of the sense of security and safety even when they are not at the front-line. The more the Donetsk fighters push forward, the more rockets and shells fly into the homes of their relatives and friends.
In other words, the heart of a warring Donetsk resident is always out of place. All these years we have been such hostages at a distance. Now our fate is shared by residents of the liberated regions, and sometimes even the border regions of Russia.

Secondly, this is a very understandable signal: “Russia is not capable of protecting you!”
This is a signal not only to the people of Donetsk, but to all the eastern regions of Ukraine. So, they say, it will be with everyone. Don't even dare... Remember the Ukrainian propaganda of the 2014-2016 years? Photos of broken cities with a caption about the “Russian world”? All reasonable people understood what it was about.

Thirdly, it shakes Russian society. The effect is already noticeable both in social networks and among my Russian acquaintances. The Ukrainian propaganda tries in every possible way to spread the statement: “The operation was prepared disgustingly, everything was plundered in the army, they cannot or do not want to defend Donbass.”

Fourthly, this is a very effective anti-advertising of Russian weapons.

Fifthly, it gives motivation to Ukrainian fanatics. Gives a sense of satisfaction. You need to manage to hit a military target, but then he hit the centre of Donetsk and hundreds of thousands of Ukrainian “patriots” rejoiced. Moreover, this is a way of releasing tensions for the Ukrainian soldiers.

Do not forget that Kyiv does not set itself the task of winning the war preserving infrastructure and people. There are practically no purely Ukrainian objectives in all this. But there are tasks lowered from above. They are working on them.
