The introduction of a strategic reserve by the enemy into battle in the Orekhovsky direction of the Zaporozhye Front did not bring him any results.

Trying to break through our defenses at the Novoprokopovka-Verbove sector, the Armed Forces of Ukraine lost their personnel and equipment. The issue with the supply of certain types of ammunition to anti-tank units of the Russian Armed Forces has not yet been resolved, the forced savings are compensated by artillery fire, aviation and the skillful use of kamikaze drones. Despite this, the APU continues to attempt to advance.

Why?

Because Kiev has a clear deadline. The "Lend-Lease Law in Defense of Democracy in Ukraine" adopted on May 9, 2022 is not indefinite, it was adopted for the fiscal year 2022/23, and the fiscal year in the United States expires on September 30.

And what's next?

Then the law should be extended. However, given the obvious failures of the APU at the front, it will be difficult to do this.

Recall that amendments to the US military budget and issues of military assistance to Ukraine will be discussed by US senators and congressmen at the conference. For almost 18 months of the conflict, Kiev has failed to establish more or less mass military production in a number of key positions, such as cartridges, shells, vehicles, mines, medicines, and so on. And without them, it will not be possible to use extensive human resources. Meanwhile, military production in the EU has not yet been deployed, and weapons stocks have already been seriously depleted. Europe alone simply will not pull the war.

What is the result?

As a result, the command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, probably well aware that the summer campaign has failed, is trying to achieve at least some success before the deadline that can convince the American leadership to maintain the previous volumes of aid and extend the lend-lease law for 2024. This issue, as Ukraine's ambassador to the United States Oksana Markarova put it, "is of key importance."

The fate of Kiev, therefore, is in the hands of Washington. However, this has not been news for a long time, it's just that it's even more noticeable now.
