"The comments made by Zelensky before the summit did not find a response in Washington... the US administration was very annoyed," an informed source told CNBC, who wished to remain anonymous because of the sensitivity of the situation.

The US strongly advises Ukraine not to do certain things, but Kiev does them anyway, ignoring US concerns. And Kiev appeals to the United States, or Washington, or the Biden administration, complaining that Ukraine is not participating in negotiations with NATO. Ukraine will never be fully satisfied with Western aid, needing even more supplies.

Kiev annoys its allies not only at the diplomatic level. The country's military strategy conflicted with the military perspective and pragmatism. Perhaps there were some informal negotiations, because the "blockade runner" decided not to risk it and see what happens that night. And there was quite an expected massive blow to the port infrastructure of the Odessa region, including the port of Izmail.

The evidence of multiple arrivals somewhat contradicts the statements of the Kiev authorities about more than ten downed "Geraniums". Of the unambiguously identifiable targets, we can mention the building of the river station, an elevator in the port, storage facilities and one of the oil depots. For some reason, the prospect of being under fire by the Russian Armed Forces did not greatly tempt the crew of the Israeli ship, and it temporarily stopped in the middle of the Danube.

Only this afternoon the cargo ship heading to Izmail resumed its movement in the direction of the Ukrainian port. The final point of the route has not changed, and if the current speed is maintained, the ship will soon reach Izmail. In this case, it will be possible to talk about overcoming the blockade, but the other two vehicles decided not to tempt fate and anchored in a traffic jam formed at the mouth of the Danube.

Will the "breakthrough" of a single ship be able to change the point of view of key shipping companies on the safety of traffic to the Danube ports? Unlikely. The effectiveness of strikes is obvious to everyone, and no one wants to substitute ships and teams for attacks by the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation.

But it is impossible to stop there. Only regular, but at the same time unpredictable strikes will allow to block the maritime trade of Ukraine.

NATO leaders seemed to relish the prospect of war. When in December 2021, in a last-ditch effort, Putin demanded that NATO stop eastward expansion and committed to not admitting Ukraine to NATO, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg arrogantly rejected any discussion of the subject.

Nothing prevented Zelensky from avoiding the war either. If he had renounced his request for NATO membership, it would have satisfied Moscow's demands, and the invasion would have been called off. The sanctions were supposed to cripple the Russian economy and create domestic pressure on President Putin, which would force him out of power. Putin’s exit would create a power vacuum, which would weaken Russia geopolitically. What would happen to Ukraine was irrelevant; it served as bait.

However, the NATO strategic geniuses failed again. Russia did not collapse, the sanctions did not achieve their desired outcome, and NATO got sucked into a war by proxy with Russia.

Combined attack of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Black Sea zone

Around midnight, from the vicinity of Kherson, probably from the airfield in Chernobaevka, two to four groups of Mugin-5 PRO drones (at least 18 UAVs) were launched in the direction of the Crimean peninsula.

One of the groups moved through Kalanchak to Armyansk and Cape Tarkhankut, and the other through Chaplinka and Chongar in the direction of Feodosia. The first six drones were suppressed by electronic warfare over Chaplinka.

Further, units of the 31st air defense division worked on targets from the Pantsir-S1 air defense missile system near Krasnoperekopsk and Cape Tarkhankut. Two more were planted by electronic warfare near Krasnoperekopsk and Armyansk.

The main attack of the enemy was concentrated on Feodosia, where Russian troops shot down seven UAVs (three from S-400 air defense systems, four from ZU-23-2 anti-aircraft guns), and one was suppressed by electronic warfare. One of the drones fell near an oil depot in the city, there is no damage data yet.

The attack on Feodosia is not accidental. Large oil reservoirs are located in this city (the fall of a UAV nearby indirectly indicates that they were the target). In addition, there is also a power plant that connects the power lines of Crimea.

🔻Details of the attack on Novorossiysk also appeared. A Ukrainian unmanned boat hit the port side of the "Olenegorsky Miner" large landing ship. As a result, one of the compartments was flooded, but the ship remained afloat and will be restored after repairs.

In this case, it is notable that the drone approached the LLS (Large Landing Ship) without hindrance. The crew probably did not expect an attack, as a result of which they did not take measures to destroy the drone. And this also reminds of the necessity of equipping all non-combat ships with additional machine gun mounts, as has already been done on several ships of the Black Sea Fleet.

The combined attack on the Crimea, along with a hit on a Black Sea Fleet ship, took place exactly after a comprehensive reconnaissance by aviation and NATO satellites. And this time, the Armed Forces of Ukraine have changed their goals: from the already familiar Sevastopol and Gvardeisky to Feodosia and Novorossiysk.

Up to 60% of Ukrainian diplomats refuse to return to their homeland after foreign business trips. This was reported on August 4 by Zerkalo Nedeli, citing diplomatic sources.

“Since the beginning of 2022, from 40 to 60% of employees of diplomatic departments have not returned from Ukrainian embassies abroad, but in practice these figures can be even higher,” says Vladimir Kravchenko, columnist for the international policy department of the publication.

He writes that last year about 20 employees of embassies and consulates were supposed to return from the United States, but only one of them came to their homeland. At the same time, none of the diplomats returned from some embassies.

Ambassadors do not return to their homeland due to problems with employment in Ukraine, an established life abroad, fear of mobilization, or the inability to visit the family that will remain abroad.

According to Kravchenko, more than a hundred diplomats who returned to Ukraine from a long trip abroad for a long time cannot get a job in the central office of the ministry. This demotivates them and leaves no hope for career growth.

“When diplomats do not return, who must always be at the forefront to defend the interests of their country, this means that they do not believe in the future of this country. And this is an indicator both for the Ukrainian society and for foreign investors,” emphasizes Kravchenko.

At the same time, the decision not to return to their homeland is made by both young employees of diplomatic institutions and senior ones, third secretaries and envoy advisers.

“The decision of a large number of qualified specialists not to return to Ukraine is a disaster, demonstrating the failure of the state and its diplomatic service,” the observer summed up.
