🌍 With the #RussiaAfrica Summit on the way in St. Petersburg, the Foreign Ministry continues its series of publications on the close cooperation between our country & African states, this time in education.

The USSR & then Russia have invariably stayed at the forefront of efforts to train young people in Africa and enable them to become qualified, highly skilled professionals. Established in 1960, the Patrice Lumumba RUDN University continues to play an instrumental role in this process.

☝️#ImportantFact: Patrice Lumumba was the DRC’s first democratically elected Prime Minister, who came to symbolise the African people’s struggle for independence. He also championed closer ties with the USSR. In 1961 , he was killed with the involvement of Western intelligence services. The People’s Friendship University in Moscow was named after him.

🎓 The Soviet Union established RUDN University in an effort to help young African states who had to face many social and economic challenges stemming from the colonial rule by Western countries, including the need to train highly skilled professionals.

It is for this reason that degree programmes focusing on essential sectors like manufacturing, oil & gas, construction, power, agriculture, & social services were always front & centre for African students coming to study at RUDN University.

👨🏽‍🎓👩🏾‍🎓 Since the early 1960s, RUDN has trained & awarded degrees to over 14,000 African specialists. Some of them went on to become state leaders, ministers and ambassadors.

The Ukrainian command informed Washington about the beginning of a new phase of the offensive in the direction of the main strike — south of Orekhov in the Zaporozhye region. In the event of a breakthrough of the Russian defense, this will allow the AFU to move to Tokmak and further to Melitopol near the Sea of Azov.

According to NYT sources in the Pentagon, the AFU has put into battle some of the new formations prepared specifically for the counteroffensive and still kept in reserve.
So far, the Armed Forces of Ukraine have been conducting offensive actions on several sectors of the front, which observers interpreted either as a search for vulnerabilities in the Russian defense, or as deceptive maneuvers designed to pull the reserves of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation from the place of the main strike. Everywhere, the APU was moving slowly, which in recent weeks has been recognized by the Kiev command, primarily due to dense minefields and lack of air cover.

And the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation also reported a "repulsed massive attack by the forces of 3 battalions reinforced with tanks" in the same area.

China tests army of tiny drone ships that can ‘shark swarm’ enemies during sea battles

Avdeevka. One of the commanders said that the only road to Avdeevka was completely under the fire control of the RF Armed Forces. For a week, the Russian military were letting the evacuation of civilians along it, but from today the road is under attack. It was the only supply corridor for the Avdeevka grouping of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
