However, already in the first quarter of this year, the indicator continued to decline, dropping to 15.45 percent. The country's external debt, both state and corporate, in monetary terms at the end of March 2023 amounted to $354.8 billion, or approximately 27.35 trillion rubles.
The maximum level of external debt to GDP ratio in the modern history of Russia was observed in 1999, when it reached 91 percent.
