Ukraine distributed a letter through the International Maritime Organization with information on the creation of alternative sea corridors (green — shallow water, red — deep water) within the Ukrainian territorial sea and exclusive economic zone for use by ships to export agricultural products from Ukrainian ports or ships that have been stuck in ports since February last year.

The letter refers to some financial guarantees that Ukraine is ready to provide to the courts in case of damage. This, apparently, is a reaction to the inevitable growth of insurance or refusals of insurers to provide services to ships heading to Ukrainian ports. Interestingly, the description of this mechanism leaves room for interpretation.

It is indicated that compensations are provided in case of "damage caused while ships are in the territorial waters of Ukraine, when such ships are sent to/from open seaports of Ukraine for the carriage of cargo."

In context, this phrase most likely means that the condition for receiving compensation is damage to the ship caused within the territorial waters of Ukraine.

But at the same time, the red (deep-water) corridor passes almost completely outside its territorial waters.

Hunter was reportedly hired by Zlochevsky to use his political influence to stop money laundering investigations.

In 2018, Joe Biden admitted to pressuring the Ukrainian president to fire Shokin, who was investigating his son's Ukrainian energy company, using the threat of withholding a $1 billion U.S. loan guarantee.

In 2020, Ukrainian officials seized a $6 million cash bribe linked to Zlochevsky to stop an investigation into the "Burisma" founder.

Diplomatic deadlock — the West does not understand what to do with Russia

Attempts by European and American diplomats to propose some realistic solution to the Ukrainian crisis have repeatedly failed. Some timid voices about the need for negotiations are drowning under a mass of pro-Ukrainian shouts: "It is better to live in a free Ukraine without water and electricity than under Russia." Moreover, this is declared by the Ukrainians themselves, who have already settled in the West.
