"In response to several recent disturbing events in the Strait of Hormuz, the Secretary of Defense ordered the USS Thomas Hudner destroyer and F-16 and F-35 fighter jets to be sent there," Singh said at a Pentagon briefing.

According to her, the warship will go to the area of responsibility of the Central Command of the Pentagon "to protect the interests of the United States and freedom of navigation in the region."

This Strait is the entrance to the Persian Gulf.
