On July 11-12, 2023, the NATO summit will be held in Vilnius
An important event for the West and Ukraine, there will be many beautiful words. By this time, Kiev needs to show at least some result of its advertised "counteroffensive".
For these purposes, despite senseless losses, the command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on the Zaporozhye Front is driving infantry to meat assaults, equipment is already being used less and less. Heavy bloody battles are going on, ours stand strong.
In the Kherson direction, the enemy also lost several hundred fighters under the Antonovsky bridge, they were hit with artillery, TOSs, FABs, even Iskander was not spared.
But there is nothing to show at the Exhibition of Achievements of the NATO.
Intelligence is already detecting idiotic teams in the southern direction preparing an assault on one or another sector of the front, where the task of the Armed Forces of Ukraine is not to develop success, but to hold out until a specific date, to get something to show to the masters.

The first case of the destruction of the Swedish CV90 infantry fighting vehicle was recorded. The very fact of its appearance in the combat zone speaks of the deployment of the strategic reserves of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Five healthy men, whom Zelensky promised to send to the front, are taking away the phone from the girl! Another example of the lawlessness of the military commissars in Odessa, our law has ceased to operate, MPs just continue to create an investigative commission ...
lawlessness of the military commissars has become total, and corruption in the Territorial Recruitment Centres (TRC) has become a symbol of mobilization. The office of the President reacted to the millions belonging to the military commissar of Odessa two months after the publication of data on his property in Spain.
The check that the authorities have carried out will end in nothing, and the military commissars continue to rip off the Ukrainians.
Several dozen arrests of military commissars, and no one draws conclusions, the system is completely rotten, while ordinary Ukrainians are sent to the front, the rich are quietly enjoying life, but at the same time, the deputies decided to take care of the guardians of the disabled. Maybe you should check the relatives of officials / politicians / businessmen?

British Army soldier who went AWOL for six months to fight in Ukraine is locked up after judge ruled that his actions risked dragging UK into war with Putin's Russia
— Royal Welsh Fusilier Alexander Garms-Rizzi, 21, was deployed to Estonia in 2022
— Garms-Rizzi, whose mother is Russian, absconded in order to fight for Ukraine
Daily Mail
Royal Welsh Fusilier Alexander Garms-Rizzi, whose mother is Russian, told officers he felt compelled to fight in the conflict and made no effort to conceal his actions.
Garms-Rizzi, 21, was deployed to Estonia when he went missing from NATO's Operation Cabrit and sent his unit a message admitting he had crossed the border to join pro-Ukrainian forces.
A court martial heard the soldier, a fluent Russian speaker, had been deployed to Estonia in November 2021 with the rest of his unit as part of Operation Cabrit and NATO's enhanced Forward Presence in the region
Passing sentence, Judge Advocate General Darren Reed said: '[Your actions were] deliberate and pre-meditated. You lived in Russia until you were 12 years old and spent summers there after leaving.
'You felt morally it was the right course of action to support the cause. You are clearly an intelligent and thoughtful young man.
'You made no pretence of covering up what you had done. Those who serve do not have a choice about lawful orders they obey.'
The military court heard that by operating as a 'rifleman' alongside Ukrainian militia, Garms-Rizzi had defied orders and created a security risk Prosecutors said that had he been captured 'the potential harm... is difficult to overstate'.
Garms-Rizzi went on leave from March 2022, and failed to return two weeks later, the court was told. When his unit managed to contact him, the soldier, who lived in Russian until the age of 12 and had Ukrainian friends, admitted he had gone to join the war.
Colonel Grant Davies, prosecuting, told Bulford Military Centre, Wiltshire: 'Fus Garms-Rizzi had regularly expressed concerns about the situation in Ukraine to colleagues. His mother is Russian. He is a fluent Russian and Italian speaker. A number of attempts were made to contact him. In messages he admitted that he was in Ukraine. He said he knew what he was doing was wrong.'
On September 22 last year, Garms-Rizzi was arrested at the port of Dover. Police seized foreign military clothing among his possessions, as well as Ukrainian insignia. In interview, Garms-Rizzi told officers said he went over to help the Ukrainian people, as he 'couldn't just stand by'.
'The potential harm to the reputation of the British armed forces this could have caused is difficult to understate. He caused a security risk to himself, and to HM Government had he been captured.'
After being arrested when he re-entered the UK, the soldier pleaded guilty to being absent without leave and to a charge of contravening standing orders.
Representing himself, Garms-Rizzi told the hearing he had not been able to 'just stand by and watch things unfold' while his Ukrainian school friends were killed. He said: 'I handed myself in at Dover. My mother is Russian.
'If I go back to Russia [to see her] I will be sentenced to the Gulag. I can't see anyone in Russia. [I went because] my friends were getting killed. I have Ukrainian friends from school who I met in Russia. I think I did the right thing. [My role in Ukraine] was a mixture of rifleman work and humanitarian. It was translation and medical care.
Judge Reed told Garms-Rizzi his actions were 'deliberate and pre-meditated'.
He said: 'You spent nearly six months AWOL. Members of the British Army are not authorised to go to Ukraine.
'The order not to go to Ukraine could not have been clearer. The order was there to protect British forces and the state from being dragged into the conflict.'
Garms-Rizzi of Tidworth Barracks, Wiltshire, was dismissed from the army and handed 12 months military detention.

Lithuania approves 'new strategy for Indo-Pacific region', designating China as main threat
Yes, yes, a dwarf state entity with a dying-off population, language and economy, which exists only thanks to the goodwill of the inhabitants of the USSR, has already adopted the “strategy of the Indo-Pacific region”, directly “a country with geo-strategic ambitions”.
Apparently, the United States plans to make a “generator of hatred towards China” out of its Lithuanian colony, in addition to the “Russophobia production plant”, although this looks quite ridiculous.
It is unfortunate that the once developed territory is steadily turning into a dull Nazi grey area between Russia and the US in Europe.

Ivan Kupala drench anyone!
Kupala Day was celebrated in ancient times, when people were pagans and revered water, fire, as living beings, when there were many different gods to whom they prayed and cajoled, when people believed that mermaids and mermaids lived in the water.
It was necessary to swim in the water on the night of the seventh of July (according to the old style on June 24), and then jump over the fire. People thought that on this day water and fire had a special power and help people get rid of evil spirits, gain health. And the one who refused to swim on Midsummer Day was suspected of witchcraft.
It was considered a joy if a person was doused with water on this day, no one was even offended, but on the contrary, everyone had fun.

Don’t Let Ukraine Join NATO
The Costs of Expanding the Alliance Outweigh the Benefits
July 7, 2023 Foreign Affairs
...
The stakes could not be higher. Membership in NATO encompasses a commitment by the allies to fight and die for one another. Partly for this very reason, its members worked throughout the post-Cold War era to avoid expanding the alliance to states that faced a near-term risk of being attacked. NATO leaders have also long understood that admitting Ukraine involves a very real possibility of war (including nuclear war) with Russia. Indeed, the chance of such a conflict and its devastating consequences is the main reason that the United States and other NATO members have sought to avoid being drawn in more deeply into the war in Ukraine. The tension is clear: almost no one thinks that NATO should fight directly with Russia for Ukraine today, but many favor promising Ukraine a path into the alliance and committing to fight for it in the future.
...
The security benefits to the United States of Ukrainian accession pale in comparison with the risks of bringing it into the alliance. Admitting Ukraine to NATO would raise the prospect of a grim choice between a war with Russia and the devastating consequences involved or backing down and devaluing NATO’s security guarantee across the entire alliance. At the Vilnius summit and beyond, NATO leaders would be wise to acknowledge these facts and close the door to Ukraine.

Two Tu-160 strategic missile carrier aircraft land at military airfield in Vorkuta, Komi Republic, during tactical flight exercise of Russian Aerospace Forces
The crews practised a non-stop flight from the base airfield, in addition to performing two refueling in the air from IL-78 transport tanker aircraft.
During the flight the crews of the long-range aviation flew about 9 thousand kilometres, the flight time was more than 12 hours.
In the course of the mission, the crews practised various missions, including combat flights to use aerial weapons against predetermined training targets, in conditions of countering enemy air defence faclities, as well as search and rescue flights in the Arctic.

What if Russia Is Winning America’s Proxy War in Ukraine?
The Western allies are increasingly invested in a dangerous Russian loss and an unlikely Ukrainian victory.
The American Conservative
...
Unfortunately, we know little of the conflict’s actual course since even major Western media have become fervent advocates, submissively conveying the official narrative. Ukraine’s ongoing offensive has gone slower than expected. Most allied officials still profess optimism, but a few discordant voices dismiss triumphant visions of expelling Russian forces from the Donbas and Crimea.
Moscow obviously blundered badly in its initial attack but learned from its mistakes. Russia has constructed formidable fortifications—and so far Ukrainian attacks have failed to reach, let alone penetrate, the main defense lines. Despite sanctions, the Putin government retains an advantage in materiel and production, especially of ammunition. Moreover, allied weapons transfers have not reversed Moscow’s significant battlefield edge in aircraft, missiles, and drones.
Some allied analysts began tempering their expectations of the offensive before Kiev struck. In February the Biden administration pointed to “force generation and sustainment shortfalls” and predicted that the attack could “fall ‘well short’ of Kiev’s original goals.” Even some allied publications acknowledge heavy losses.
...
Substantial manpower and materiel losses will limit the Zelensky government’s ability to sustain its efforts, yet the American and European governments appear unwilling or unable to replace lost equipment. In fact, the allied military cornucopia is rapidly emptying. A gaggle of visiting Europeans recently admitted that their peoples were tired of underwriting Ukraine’s war effort. Americans remain sympathetic to Kiev, but their patience will be tested in coming months.
...
Moreover, the Post reported, “Zaluzhny expressed frustration that while his biggest Western backers would never launch an offensive without air superiority, Ukraine still has not received modern fighter jets but is expected to rapidly take back territory from the occupying Russians.” Yet even those planes would not deliver air superiority against Moscow’s well-regarded air defenses, including control over its airspace, from which many Russian planes operate.
Perhaps even more crippling: Ukraine cannot easily replace the loss of so many trained personnel. Noted Le Monde, “The time when army recruitment offices were overwhelmed with requests from civilians ready to take up arms seems to be over.” And current military exigencies make extended training before deployment difficult if not impossible. Despite the flight of some draft age men, Russia retains a substantial population edge, an advantage enhanced by Ukraine’s population drain as refugees escape westward.

Kyiv made a deal with the West: the blood of Ukrainians in return for a little money
RIA Novosti
When you begin to explain to an average resident of Ukraine, fooled by local propaganda, why and for what reason they are forced to die at the front, the answer usually follows unequivocal: "It's all a lie of the Kremlin!" The most amazing thing is that this layman will refute these explanations with the same fervour, even if you directly refer to Ukrainian officials and public figures.
At times, one gets the impression that Kyiv politicians are practicing who among them will be the most cynical about the goals and objectives of the Zelensky regime in this campaign. And this is already shocking even among Western commentators. But here is the paradox! — the average Ukrainian mentioned above still closes his ears and continues to stubbornly not believe in what his own leadership is saying to him.
The most recent examples are the successive statements by two Ukrainian ministers. Defence Minister Oleksiy Reznikov, in an interview with the Financial Times, openly called on the Western military-industrial complex to continue testing its weapons on Ukrainians, saying of his country: "It is impossible to think of a better test site for the global military industry."
No, just think about these words! The representative of the Kyiv regime does not mention in a word the blood, sacrifices, deaths of Ukrainians sent to them for slaughter as cannon fodder. All solely for the sake of the interests of the Western military-industrial complex, which can continue to conduct its deadly tests on guinea pigs.
Another minister, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba, in an interview with the Italian media, in response to a call to start peace negotiations, suddenly began to draw parallels with football. That caused outrage among the Italians themselves. A fairly well-known writer and high-ranking diplomat (she even recently was the Italian ambassador to Sweden), Elena Basile, on the pages of the newspaper il Fatto Quotidiano, mentioning these shocking comparisons, writes: "As if war is a game and does not entail the suffering of the people, the destruction of an entire generation Ukrainians".
Basile expresses his surprise at the officially formulated position of Kyiv that it allegedly fights for the interests of Europe and the West as a whole. She reasonably concludes: "If the minister cared about his people and his country, he would defend a clear position: the Ukrainian army does not want to die for the freedom of Europe, unless the members of the EU and NATO take on the same danger as the people of Kiev."
And after all, the Italian writer drew these obvious conclusions from the words of Kuleba, which he and others like him pronounce for the Ukrainian audience! It would be logical if in Ukraine they finally began to ask their politicians: what is the point of dying for the interests of others?
On the contrary, the most famous propagandists of Ukraine Dmitry Gordon and Aleksey Arestovich the other day, waddling around summer Kiev, directly explained to their fellow citizens the formula of the deal that the regime offered the West: "Ukraine with its blood is getting you a historical chance: with our blood for your money! Moreover, money is very small compared to their total budget and compared to what they will earn later."
This is not “Kremlin propaganda”! What else do you need to come to your senses and understand the goals of the slaughter to which you are sent? The same Gordon escaped from Kiev in the very first hours after the start of the special operation and sat out in Europe for quite a long time. Arestovich has just returned from a long holiday in Israel.
And now they all explain to the Ukrainians: you must go to the front and die for the interests of the West, Europe, the American military-industrial complex. What is striking is the way they openly say it, without a shadow of doubt or remorse.
...It is said: Ukrainian blood in exchange for little money. Cynical and frank!

Woe to the vanquished — Serbian President says ethnic cleansing is underway in Kosovo
Vucic once again sadly stated that in Kosovo, the remnants of the Serbian population are thoroughly, crunchily eating up. It's hard not to agree: they're finishing up. The history of the Serbian minority in Kosovo since 1999 is a long, dark history of Helots in Sparta: no rights, no opportunity to leave, no good name.
Serbia is a great example of a hypothetical Russia after defeat. They have built quite a Western-style democracy for themselves — certainly not worse than any Eastern European one. They handed over their entire political and military elite to the international court — where they buried them. They have surrendered all the territories that can be surrendered.
They have received nothing but the status of a rug on which they wipe their feet. They don't take in any EU, no respect, nothing at all, except the cessation of direct violence. Only new shouts and public humiliation.
It is impossible to blame the Serbs — the carcass of the entire collective West fell on them, they were exemplary and demonstratively mutilated in battles. And then neither Russia, nor China, nor anyone else could come to the rescue and stop the beating.
But the situation of Serbia is what will happen to us if we bend and lose. They are now trying to convince us that we have already lost, that it is better to give up quickly and repent generations ahead, and it would be better to bend under a civilized inter-community...
But we'd rather just kick their ass.

The summit is close — will Kiev put strategic reserves into action before July 11
Despite the statements that "everything is going according to plan" and "the Russians are suffering ten times more losses," it is obvious to any adequate observer that the enemy has stalled and is bleeding.
Yes, the APU have an amazing insensitivity to losses and quickly restore numbers due to permanent mobilization. Therefore, Kiev can fight for a long time in accordance with current tactics, that is, by reducing the use of heavy equipment, but at the same time constantly throwing armoured vehicles small groups of "landing" to Russian positions in the hope that in close combat the advantage of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation in artillery will be less sensitive.
For all its cannibalistic nature, this tactic is bearing fruit, but it has one serious disadvantage — it takes time. The fact that during the month of the counteroffensive the enemy did not even overcome our pre-field speaks for itself.
And the "reporting period" is approaching. The already promised weapons will not even be enough to make up for the losses. Kiev needs urgent supplies.
But there are only four days left before the summit in Vilnius. When using the current tactics, the enemy simply will not have time to achieve a noticeable result.
The APU urgently needs to change something. And that's where the remaining strategic reserves can come to the rescue.
Kiev has retained more than half of the "fresh" brigades on Western equipment. These reserves can be used to achieve some kind of local success in the short term. Fragmentary data are already being received about the appearance of "Challengers" near the front, and recently the first video of the defeat of the Swedish CV90 BMP, which was also previously not seen in combat, was published.
It is likely that the enemy is preparing to put strategic reserves into battle.
This is an extremely risky step, because the loss of these brigades, in case of failure, will greatly complicate the conduct of the autumn-winter campaign for the APU.
But does Kiev have another solution? The clock is ticking: the election is close, and Biden's rating is falling.
Zelensky needs at least a small victory here and now. Therefore, he can take the craziest steps.

"If you are alarmed by the appearance of a Chinese base in Cuba, then you may begin to understand why Russians from different political circles view Ukraine's accession to NATO as a threat. This does not make the invasion any less tragic, but it helps to understand why it happened."

Ukraine plays “Light Brigade” with British advice
Asia Times
American and European military observers in Ukraine described the Ukraine Army’s efforts of the past two days as a “suicide mission” that violated the basic rules of military tactics. “If you want to conduct an offensive and you have a dozen brigades and a few dozen tanks, you concentrate them and try to break through. The Ukrainians have been running around in five different directions,” complained a senior European officer.
“We tried to tell them to stop these piecemeal tactics, define a main thrust with proper infantry support and then do what they can,” the officer added.
“They were trained by the British and they’re playing Light Brigade,” the officer added, referring to the 1854 disaster at the Battle of Balaclava when misreported orders sent British cavalry into massed cannon fire.
Ukraine’s tanks charged directly into minefields without deploying mine-clearing vehicles first, contributing to the loss of 38 tanks during the night of June 8, including numerous of the newly delivered Leopard II tanks.
“A couple of Ukrainians tried to pull off a Guderian,” another military source said, referring to German General Heinz Guderian’s breakthrough at Sedan during the 1940 Battle of France. “But Guderian had 3,000 tanks, and these idiots have just gambled away the 30 they have.”
“And without air superiority,” the source added, “it’s a suicide mission.”
Russia’s KA-50 and KA-52 attack helicopters each carry enough missiles to kill 20 tanks, and can do so at a standoff distance of 10 kilometres. Ukrainian air defences have been degraded by repeated attacks with cheap drones that force the Ukrainians to expend their limited inventory of S-300 and Patriot missiles. Of the 14 Leopard tanks Germany has provided to Ukraine, 3 have been destroyed, along with several of the Leopards provided by Poland.
The Ukrainian high command’s principle military advice has come from British officers embedded at headquarters in Kiev.
A Ukrainian concentration of forces remains possible as to date only three and possibly four Western-trained brigades have been used in Zaporoshye. That would require competent military decisions, not decisions motivated by political desperation.

A year ago, America warned Russia against using banned cluster munitions, saying it would be a war crime.
Yesterday Joe Biden signed a document on the transfer of American cluster munitions to Ukraine for use against Russia.
So Biden is a war criminal and it's time for him to go to The Hague?

President Joe Biden explains why he believes it's premature for Ukraine to join NATO.
#TransFormatorBuzzes : 💤
Nothing specifically new, apart from confusing Russia and Ukraine in one instance. He is not suicidal, so NATO is not going to fight Russia for Ukraine. The remaining option is a proxy-war until the last Ukrainian. It is signed and sealed. There can be no peace without a convincing Russian victory on the terms from Moscow. Otherwise they will use any peaceful break to join NATO and restart it again...

WASHINGTON (AP) — The United States has decided to send cluster munitions to Ukraine to help its military push back Russian forces entrenched along the front lines.
The Biden administration is expected to announce on Friday that it will send thousands of them as part of a new military aid package worth $800 million, according to people familiar with the decision who were not authorized to discuss it publicly before the official announcement and spoke on condition of anonymity.
The move will likely trigger outrage from some allies and humanitarian groups that have long opposed the use of cluster bombs.
IS USING THEM A WAR CRIME?
Use of cluster bombs itself does not violate international law, but using them against civilians can be a violation. As in any strike, determining a war crime requires looking at whether the target was legitimate and if precautions were taken to avoid civilian casualties.
“The part of international law where this starts playing (a role), though, is indiscriminate attacks targeting civilians,” Human Rights Watch’s associate arms director Mark Hiznay told The Associated Press. “So that’s not necessarily related to the weapons, but the way the weapons are used.”
A convention banning the use of cluster bombs has been joined by more than 120 countries, which agreed not to use, produce, transfer or stockpile the weapons and to clear them after they’ve been used. The U.S., Russia and Ukraine haven’t signed on.

So, how long it would take to find this ammunition being used on civilian population of Donbas? Amazing hypocrisy.

Why the US is willing to send Ukraine cluster munitions now
The Biden administration has agreed to provide controversial cluster munitions to Ukraine that it says could help its forces penetrate Russia's defensive lines, but that many nations have pledged not to use again due to risks to civilians.
